High winds and rain seem to be in store for us today. We had everything from sun, rain, hail, wind, and more sun yesterday. The high was 61. I think it is time to put on the rain boots for the day and accept the fact that we are stuck with it. I thought I would share some wildflower shots from the Bullhead trail. The yellow flower is a Trout Lilly (Erythronium americanum), also known as the Dogtooth Violet. And the beautiful small white flowers are some kind of Anemone, most likely Wood Anemone (Anemone quinquefolia). Becky 04/26/2011 8:55am

Aw for Pete's sake, that aint nothing. I've been a master gardner for more than 35 years. You should see my gardens here in Asheville and in Coral Gables. I'm really proud of them. I've been blessed with a very green thumb. I've even grown some plants in the past that I could get in trouble for, if you know what I mean! LOL! Woody 04/26/2011 10:39am

Oh Geez. There's too much to tell here. But in Asheville I try to stick with native plants: Rhododendron catawbiense, Vaccinium blueberries, native azalea and mountain laurel, dwarf iris, and you should see my Trillium right now- they are beautiful and in full bloom. In Coral Gables I certainly have to maintain a tropical garden. It's much different but every bit as fun to work and watch. You're very kind to ask. Juanita 04/26/2011 2:05pm

My large group stayed there last night and it was great as usual! The leader of our group is retired Judge Eddie Beckner. He has made the LeConte trip for many years. Our group hiked up Trillium on Friday and down Bullhead on Saturday. What a beautiful trail with all the wildflowers in full bloom! But man, not a trail for bad knees! Yikes! Cindy 04/27/2011 7:57am

The flowers are beautiful. I would love to be up there right now but unfortunately our vacation time fell 5 weeks too early and the mountain was still covered with patches of ice and snow and mostly bare (though that was something we hadn't experienced in person yet either!).
