Sparkling Lights Below

The valley below. The light in the bottom of the photo is the lamp light in one of the crew quarters.
The clouds cleared and left us with a spectacular view of the valley last night. The night sky was full of sparkle. I made sure my car batteries were fully charged so I could wake up this morning and watch the fairy tale wedding. Yes, even on top of Mt. LeConte, the Royal Wedding was seen. I couldn't miss history in the making.

We received word that Alum Cave trail had a few downed trees, nothing that was not passable. Trillium had some trees down as well. The park was going to clear that trail so the llamas could make it to the top. As for the other trails, we have not heard about the conditions. I will keep you posted as I hear.

The picture is just great! How often do the Llamas go up and down? Which trail to they use? Thanks, your pictures are really good!

Allyson, Please explain the lights in the distance. Are we looking at the Parkway as it passes through Pigeon Forge? or is that Gatlinburg?

The bright spot you see is downtown Sevierville. Pigeon Forge is to the left. You can not see Gatlinburg from the lodge. Pittman Center is below us.

That would mean the bright line going to the right is Dolly Parton Parkway. The nighttime view from up there is pretty cool to see in person. I miss it. Thanks for this one Allyson.

I know of two trees down on the Rainbow falls trail but you can pass, I also saw two roe deers (I think) friday evening on my way down, were really peaceful ones, it was awesome! :)
