The rain moved in yesterday afternoon. It continued to rain for most of the evening. As the temperatures dropped the rain turned to snow. We awoke this morning to about an inch of fresh powder. The ground was soaked before the snow fell, that makes for a good base layer of ice. If you are hiking up today, please make sure you have the proper clothing and some form of ice walker. The temperature is hovering in the mid twenties. The wind is blowing. It is a bone chilling morning on the mountain.

We stayed the night Wednesday, and had a great time. Regarding the weather, I guess we got lucky!

Hey, I recognize that cabin. Think I'll put it on my desktop and wait for its resident to emerge. As usual, beautiful pictures, Allyson! Enjoy your snowy, hot-chocolatey day!

Completed my day hike to the lodge on Wednesday. The weather was perfect for hiking - sunny with moderate temperatures.

Will the llama pack complete its scheduled visit today with the snow?

Beautiful, beautiful picture as always. My friends and I stayed at the shelter three weeks who, and we enjoyed the sack lunch and hanging out in the office that evening. I wish we there had been rain then instead of snow.

Beautiful pictures and I really enjoy your blog. We are scheduled to head up on Monday afternoon and staying Monday night at the lodge. Do you think there will be some thawing by then on the trail? We are planning on coming up Alum and going down Trillium.
