I like to walk about among the beautiful things that adorn the world; but private wealth I should decline, or any sort of personal possessions, because they would take away my liberty. George Santayana
Morning,

It was another mild day on top. The high was 45. The low was 32. It was 38 and rainy at observation. The mountain received .28" of rain. Be prepared for some wet trails!

It's another day for the old Walasi-Yi spirits up top. There are few times I get wary of being alone up here. For some reason, it is always on a day like today. I believe it's an old buried remnant of primeval fear & vulnerability. I relish this primitive vigilance, as it means some part of me is responding to my environment in a way it wouldn't be in the 'real world'. Another blessing up top.

JP. So where are u headed after your sunny and rainy time on top of LeConte? Thanks again for the wonderful pics. Maybe you will get snow yet! In central Oho we woke to about an inch this morning and its still coming down. For 30 to 45 mins it was huge flakes and coming down like a downpour of rain. It was beautiful!

I hiked UP Bullhead and DOWN Rainbow WED. Nothing even remotely like ice or snow until just below West Point. We encountered three hikers that came up Alum Cave that day, and they said it was fine until the very top as well. Hiking the Bluffs should be just fine as it has been warm since then with no snow. Just don't cross beneath the drip lines where widowmakers may hold in wait!

I had lunch at LeConte today at around 11AM. I went up Rainbow and down Bull Head. It was about 35 on my thermometer with a good bit of wind and mist, but the sun really came out just as I was heading down the mountain and it was getting warm later on in the day.

I didn't see anyone on the trail the whole time. It was a lonely 14 mile stretch of hiking.
