There seems to be a little moisture in the air. Looking at the weather forecasts, I am not sure where the rain came from. It was another nice day on the mountain yesterday. There were a lot of folks enjoying the scenery. The high was 57º with a low of 40º. We are currently socked in and looking at some pretty dark clouds. If I had to predict today's weather from looking at the sky, I would say we are in for some rain. September is coming to close. Only 60 more days of our season left. I hope you all are exercising your dialing fingers and getting for the 2014 reservations to go on sale at 8 a.m. on Tuesday. I know the staff in our office is getting ready. They will pleasantly awaiting your calls early Tuesday morning. I hope everyone has a great Sunday. Happy Hiking.

Good morning all! A little rain here in Indiana this Sunday morning. THEY say it is going to go away by noon so maybe yours will too. Going camping today...rather be on the mountain..but it is what it is. Nevertheless will be thinking of Mt. LeConte as I traverse the easy flat surfaces of one of our State Parks. Good safe hiking to all who are on the trails today wherever they may be.

Ah, I love Indiana State Parks, my favorite being Brown County. I usually get over there a few times a year for a day of hiking to get my legs a little fitter for the Smokies. It's a about 140 miles from where I live in Illinois, but it's not too bad. It gets me away from the flat country for a day.

Any day "on the mountain" is a good day. With only 60 days left in the season, I'm a bit curious: millions visit the GSMNP every year. What is the average number of guests at the lodge each season? Are day hikers and those spending the night at the LeConte shelter counted as well? Good luck to everyone on Tuesday. May the reservation gods smile favorably upon you. Y'all have a good 'un...

What's going to happen if the government shuts down Monday and the park closes all trail heads? Do overnight reservations get a refund or a chance to reschedule? Thanks

I got my reservation date in and will just hope for the best. Have my husband's Grandma's funeral that day. 98 years old, what a beautiful woman she was. Good luck everyone on getting a cabin and the date of your choosing. Comments are closed.
