Its a soggy day on the mountain. Slush is the prime factor on trails. Very wet conditions for the feet. The high yesterday reached 45 degrees. The overnight low was 24 degrees. The 7am observation temps came in at 41 degrees. We received 2.19” of precipitation. No new snow. Snow depth hovers around 1”. It’s all melting fast! US Highway 441 (Newfound Gap road) is open. Its a wet, soggy start to this Thursday morning. The mountain is saturated from the rains and snow melt. The high yesterday reached 37 degrees. The overnight low only dipped down to 24 degrees. It was 37 degrees at 7am observation and raining. US Highway 441 (Newfound Gap Road) is closed for high winds. Be safe folks. SEE YOU AT THE TOP! PNUT The frozen tundra. Actually, it’s warmed up much more than the negative degree temps I was experiencing days ago. The high yesterday reached 40 degrees. The overnight low dropped down to 24 degrees. The 7am observation temp was 26 degrees. All roads are open! What are you waiting for? Rain is moving in tmrw. Snow depth is around 12” and surely to melt off much more tomorrow with incoming rain. It’s a gorgeous afternoon on LeConte. The high yesterday reached 34 degrees. The overnight low dipped down to 16 degrees. It was 27 at 7am observation. No precipitation was recorded and snow depth is hovering around 18”. All roads are open! Micro spikes will be needed to reach the summit.
