Hello again from a cold and dreary mountain top today. Yesterday's high reached 50 and the overnight low fell back to 28, but the temperature seems to be falling as the morning progresses, freezing the mist on the trees and onto the ground as well. So be cautious while making the ascent today!
Yesterday's weather stayed fairly mild until right after sunset when a long line of thunderstorms started making their way across the valley and up to us. In fact, the crew had quite the lightning show while we were in the kitchen dyeing Easter eggs after dinner! We received 1.35" of rain overnight and easily 60-70 mph winds rocked the mountain, so be careful of branches, slippery rocks, and refreezing ice if you are out hiking today! Hello hello! We certainly have some wind again today! Yesterday stayed cloudy and misty with the high reaching 50 and the low at 37. Currently, it is 47 degrees and the wind is starting to pick up again. I wouldn't really call is rain, but the mist accumulated .05" of precipitation and practically all of the ice and snow are gone from the trails and mountain top. That being said, a cold front is moving in with the storms we are supposed to be getting which means that tomorrow might be icy again. So for those hiking up to spend the night, go ahead and bring that traction just in case for the return hike! Also, we are supposed to be getting even stronger winds as the day moves forward, so be cautions of downed trees on the trails today and tomorrow!
Happy hiking! Morning all! Well, it's a VERY windy day today on the mountain. Yesterday's blue skies have been swallowed up by a soupy mess of clouds and fog. The high yesterday reached 53 and the low was 33, currently it is 40 degrees, but the howling wind will make that feel much cooler, especially on the higher portions of the trails. Fortunately, the temperature didn't dip below freezing last night, so all of the ice that melted yesterday did not refreeze! Everyone pack rain gear today (let's be honest- pack rain gear anytime you hike) and nobody get blown off the trail on the way up!
The snow is almost gone! It's another lovely day up top with a cloudless sky and temperatures steadily rising. Currently we are in the mid 40's. Yesterday's low was 32 and the high reached 49. There is still possible ice on the trails, so be careful, but for the most part they should be pretty well thawed out. It is rather windy today though, so don't forget the hat and gloves!
I have really enjoyed reading the blog comments lately and I wanted to thank you all for the kind, positive things that have been posted recently! We can really feel the good vibes being sent our way and the crew (and myself of course!) are eager to return the favor! Everyone have a wonderful day and happy hiking! |
