Good Morning,

And what a perfect morning it is for us here at the lodge. As I made breakfast I was rewarded with a spectacular sunrise slowly rising over the horizon. Bright colors of orange and red dominated the clear views. No crew member nor overnight guest decided to sleep in and miss the amazing sunrise that greeted us. After several days of rainfall and cloud cover we are excited to say that today is going to be a clear beautiful day. No rain on the forecast and not a cloud in sight. Last night we surprisingly dropped to 35 degrees but with such clear sky we are warming up fast. Currently 46 degrees and still on the rise. Todays high is expected to reach the mid 50s. So come on up and enjoy this beautiful weather with us.

Good morning all,

The rainfall has not let up and we received 1.4 inches yesterday. Forecast are calling for scattered light showers for most of today. Tomorrow is looking like its going to be a clear day for us so keep your fingers crossed. Temperatures are not changing very much with a low last night of 42 degrees and todays high expected to be in the upper 40s. Trail conditions have been reported to be flooded in some areas that cross creeks. The sun seems to be trying to shine through the heavy cloud cover but only lasts for a moment. Expect conditions in camp to be fairly wet. Rain gear is still advised and warm dry layers. Come rain or shine crew is in full swing to prepare the lodge as a warm oasis for hikers. Fresh hot coffee and hot chocolate are being brewed to help warm up visitors and the heaters are pumping out warm and cozy temps for inside.

Good Afternoon,

The rainfall has finally caught up to us. Last night at diner we received 0.5 inches of heavy rain. This morning we had a brief break and stayed dry but by lunch we were back in the rain and it is still continuing. Winds are picking up and reaching speeds of 45 mph. The forecast is calling for the rain to continue for the rest of the day and into parts of tomorrow. It may be rainy but we are thankful that temperatures are staying high enough that we don't need to worry about ice. It is currently 46 degrees and looks like it will remain in the upper 40s for the rest of the day. Overnight temps are expected to only drop to the low 40s. For anyone planning a trip up rain gear is still advised.
The best cure for a rainy day is a visit from our llama friends. They arrived in camp just as the rain let up and were able to enjoy their break in dry conditions. After some well deserved tasty treats the llamas loaded up and headed home for the night. Its always a good day if its a llama day.

Good Morning All,

The mountain certainly has a mind of its own. Weather forecast is calling for rain all day but we can currently see all the way to the valley floor below with not a single drop of rain falling. All of the crew are taking advantage of this dry morning by finishing their morning duties as quick as they can. Looking off in the distance we can see dark and heavy rain clouds rolling ever so gently our way. Make no mistake the rains are coming. For those planning a trip be sure to pack that rain gear. Last night we only dropped to 34 degrees (which crew is starting to consider warm). Temps are on the rise fast this morning as we are currently at 51 degrees. We are expecting a high to be in the mid to upper 50s today.

Good Morning,

After a rainy and cloudy day yesterday we were rewarded this morning with s spectacular sunrise. Clear sky all the way to the valley floor below are expected all day. Temperatures last night only dropped to 34 degrees and with the sun shining we are warming up fast. Currently it is 45 degrees and we are likely to see the mid 50s today. All of crew are working hard to complete their morning routines so they can hurry up and hit the trails to soak in this wonderful Saturday weather. Reports are saying the trails are free of all snow and ice. Keeping a close eye on the weather forecast it looks like some rainfall is coming our way Sunday through Monday so if you are planning a trip up be sure to pack that rain gear. Overnight temps are still chilly so extra warm layers is advised as well.

Good Afternoon,

We are in so pretty dense fog/cloud cover today but still there is no place I'd rather be. A mild breeze has the fog slicing through camp effortlessly. Last night was very windy with 40 mph winds and we received 1.0 inches of rain early this morning. With such heavy cloud coverage the sun is not getting much of a chance to dry things off so conditions in camp are pretty damp. Those crew members with the afternoon off are spending their time with a nice nap to accompany this gloomy weather. Last nights overall low was 31 degrees and we have warmed up to currently 42 degrees. With a high yesterday of 51 degrees, any lingering icy snow patches have melted away. Tomorrows forecast is calling for bright sunny sky with no chance of rain and temps expected to be in the mid 50s.

Good Afternoon,

We could not ask for better weather this afternoon. Bright blue sky without a cloud in sight has the sun making quick work of any lingering snow and ice. Areas that are tucked deep in the tree cover are still icy and slick so take cation on the trails and be sure to bring traction devices if you plan on hiking to the higher elevations. Last night dropped to a low of 28 degrees but temps are on the rise fast as we are currently at 46 degrees. We might even see the temps reach up into the 50s soon. There is no chance of more snow on the forecast but they are calling for rain coming our way late into the weekend. With such clear weather today, guests and day hikers are getting rewarded for their trek up with some amazing views all around.

Good Afternoon,

On this lovely Wednesday, we are experiencing a nice warm up. Currently at 45 degrees, we are not supposed to get back into the freezing temps overnight allowing a lot of our snow to melt off. However, there are still reports of snow/ice on the trail in shady spots up to three miles from the lodge. Keep those traction devices handy!

Yesterday, we reached a high of 28 degrees and overnight low of 22 accompanied by a total of two inches of snow fall. We are so excited for the warm up that is about to happen this week. With a predicted 55 degrees as our high just in time for the weekend. Though it might reach a high in the 50s in the middle of the day, don't forget our overnight lows will remain in the lower 40 degrees to upper 30 degrees. Bring those layers or purchase a 2019 I Hiked It Hoodie at the top!

Good morning,

As we rose from our beds this morning, we saw an unexpected site... MORE SNOW. There was no forecast for the snow but we've received over two inches within the last three hours and are currently sitting at 27 degrees without much movement. Those traction devices are a must on the trail as under the new powder, there is a layer of ice in some areas. Be careful on the hike up!

Today, were expecting the snow to continue into the afternoon hours with cloud cover. Overnight tonight, we'll stay at those freezing temps causing more freezing. At the moment, the llamas are still expected to make a trip to the lodge tomorrow. Throughout the rest of the week, expect ice on the trail and chilly temps as you reach the summit.

Good afternoon,

This morning we woke up to a frigid 10 degrees outside. We all bundled by the heater in between breakfast and camp clean up. However, once the sun hit the mountainside for a little while, the snow began to melt leaving us at our high of 35. We will have to wait to see if it warms any more throughout the afternoon. Tonight, we are expected to remain in the 30s until the sun sets. Into the evening hours, we could see temps in the lower teens once again. If you are planning a hike up, warm layers are a must and traction devices are strongly encouraged as there are reports of ice on a majority of the trail. We hope you have a fantastic start to your week!
