Good Morning,

There is no better way to start the week than with clear blue skies, warm sunshine and wonderful views. We had a few rain clouds hanging around early this morning but have since cleared out. Already guests and crew have spotted five deer out on morning strolls. This truly is a magical place to be, so come join us to welcome in the new week and the spring weather that is finally settling in.
Though rain was in the forecast for last night we were lucky and did not receive any. Temperatures only dropped to 48 degrees last night and with todays clear skies and sunshine we are expecting to be in the upper 50s and possibly reach the 60s. For those planning a trip up be sure to bring plenty of water and expect hot conditions on the trails.

Good afternoon

The weather at the top of a mountain seems to be everything but predictable. We woke this morning to the same rainy and fog covered camp that has been with us for a few days now. As the hours of the day went by the sun  started to make an appearance bringing a bright and sunny afternoon with blue skies and little cloud coverage. Short lived was the clear sky as the mountain breeze has brought with it dense fog and heavy rain cloud coverage. Though no rain yet it is on the forecast and doesn't appear to blow over us. The temperatures are staying relatively consistent for us as we have another day in the upper 50s and nights only dropping to low 40s.

Good afternoon all,

"When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe." -John Muir

With the days on the mountain jumping back and forth between sunshine and rain we are starting to see lots of color come to life. It won't be too much longer till the wildflowers start to overtake the lodge. The weather may be forever changing and unpredictable but the beauty of the mountain is always true.
Temperatures today are only getting into the upper 50s with lows expected to reach the low 40s tonight. There seems to be an ongoing battle between the rainfall and sunshine but it looks like the sunshine is winning (for now)

Good Afternoon

The rain and fog has moved in on the mountain today and it looks like its here to stay. The fog may be blocking out the views but we find it gives us an opportunity to get more personal with whats happening right at our feet. With a much more secluded feeling, guests and crew are enjoying the silence that is overcoming this gloomy weather.
We are currently at 55 degrees and expected to stay in the 50s till late in the night as we drop into the mid 40s. For anyone planning a trip up the mountain be sure to bring your rain gear and expect trails to be a little slick.

It’s Friday Eve!

Another rainy day turned into a beautiful eye catching sunset. We hit 60 degrees yesterday turning into the mid 40s overnight. Seems to be a consistent trend recently. Today, we are predicted to have more rain showers with temps staying in the 50s but are currently having a gorgeous sunny morning! Just warm enough for crew and guests alike to sit on their porches and drink a hot beverage while taking in the beautiful views LeConte provides.

Happy Wednesday!

As predicted, we finally received some rain showers throughout the day yesterday, overnight and are expecting more today as the clouds continue to encompass camp. We reached the mid 40s overnight with .25 inches of rain but will stay around 55 degrees throughout the day today. Continue to wear those waterproof layers!

When the weather is wet and we want to take a break from running around and dancing in the rain, coat hanger llamas are made! The crew voted and his name is Bert. He will be hanging out with the live llamas this afternoon. Pictures to come!

Good Morning!

Another cool breezy night and warm inviting morning as we continue to anticipate the rain. Dandelions (though a weed) are blooming and bringing color to the mountain. We have enjoyed the sounds of birds chirping as the sun rises and sets, and yes, have enjoyed the squirrels as well. Just a friendly reminder, please do not feed any wildlife in the park including the squirrels. If we stay on top of keeping food away from them, they won’t be such an overwhelming presence in the summer time!

Recently, Allison’s mom brought us a Spam Can Banjo to add to our repertoire of instruments on the mountain and here’s a video of Heather playing it! Can you name that tune??

Good Afternoon,

As the blue skies peek in and out of the clouds, we are enjoying this warm but breezy day. Though we will stay in the mid 60s throughout the afternoon and 50s overnight, we see only rain showers and thunderstorms predicted for the rest of our week. Hopefully it will cool things down in the valley! Remember those waterproof layers.

One of the staples to every LeConte breakfast is the sweet Tang. Not only do we serve it to the guests, but a majority of the crew has Tang with breakfast and throughout our work day. Jacob Line wrote this haiku about Tang;
Radioactive.
That orange glow lights the soul.
Gives me strength to live.
Enjoy the rest of your work week!

Good Morning All,

As the start of the week approaches we would like to remind everyone that Rainbow Falls Trail is closed Monday-Thursday for the season for repairs/upkeep. Bullhead Trail is also closed for the year due to fire damage. All other trails, from the views of Alum Cave Trail to the waterfalls of Trillium Gap Trail, are open. Another friendly reminder that temperatures for us at the lodge are much cooler than at the base of the mountain so expect high temps in the mid to upper 80s at the start of the trails. Be sure to bring plenty of water.
Today is yet another beautiful day for us as there are no clouds in the sky to block the sunshine from reaching the summit. A slight breeze and temperatures reaching the upper 50s has the mountain coming to life with day hikers, guests, crew and wildlife all enjoying this wonderful place.

Good Morning,

Today is a doors and windows open kind of day here at the lodge. With temperatures expected to get into the low 60 degrees and a cool breeze with not a cloud insight, crew and guests can't seem to be found indoors. The beautiful spring weather has the birds singing, the deer wondering through camp and the squirrels scurrying around. There is no better way to spend a weekend than on top of the mountain with nature so tighten up those hiking boots and come enjoy the weather with us.
