Good Afternoon All, We would like to take a moment and introduce a new crew member, Winston. He is really excited to be apart of the crew for the 2018 season and he has a really big smile to prove it. Though his size makes it a little difficult to navigate the tight corners of the kitchen and his tail keeps tripping other crew members, we are happy to have him onboard. He may have a short reach but that doesn't stop him from picking up a broom and helping out. Winston has a background in security and will play a big role in bear deterrent. His favorite part of working here is being in the office checking folks in and getting to taste everyone, I MEAN GREET, greet everyone. Today we are experiencing a few scattered showers but most just overcast of heavy clouds. Every once in a while we get a glimpse of the sun peaking through the clouds but is sure not to last. Temperatures are at a comfortable 64 degrees and only expected to drop into to low 50s tonight. -Adventure is out there.

Good Evening, We have been back and forth today between beautiful sunshine and clear skies to heavy cloud coverage and rain. But rain or shine there is no place I would rather be. With a brief break in work this afternoon I was able to relax at Myrtle Point and get some great pictures. This spot may be best know for the amazing views at sunrise but certainly doesn't lack any beauty at anytime throughout the day. The rain cloud coverage has us back at slightly cooler temperatures floating in the mid to low 60s while dropping at night to upper 40s. More rain is on the forecast so any planning a hike up be sure to bring rain gear and a change of clothes while at the top. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good Evening All, We almost made it the entire weekend without a single drop of rain but our luck has run out as thunder echoes all around the mountain. We are expecting rainy conditions with scattered thunderstorms throughout the evening. For those hiking up plan for wet conditions. Temperatures are staying about the same for us with a high of 68 degrees and only drooping to 52 degrees last night. A friendly reminder that Rainbow Falls Trail is closed Monday-Thursday for maintenance. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good Morning Everyone, All of camp was quiet early this morning but not because everyone was asleep rather because everyone was out at Myrtle Point checking out the amazing sunrise we had. I was even able to see some beautiful colors from the kitchen while making breakfast and sipping on my coffee. Have you heard of trail magic? Well how about mountain magic? The crew would like to give a huge thank you to Ryan and Allsion along with Jessica for hiking up a large amount of wonderful treats for us. You have no idea how awesome it was to watch crew dive into the bag. This marks their third trip up to the lodge and having tackled Alum Cave twice now they decided to make the trek up via Boulevard this year. Thank You guys so much and now sit back and enjoy a well deserved relaxing afternoon after hiking up with those heavy packs. Today is shaping up to be another beautiful sunny day for us though rain is expected later tonight. Forecast is calling for high temperatures again today as we should see the upper 60s and maybe 70s. Be sure to hike up with plenty of water.
-Adventure is out there. (35.654261, -83.436827) Summer is certainly here for us at the lodge as today we reached 71.5 degrees! Today is the hottest day we have had this year to date. Sunshine is filling up camp with little to no cloud coverage. A slight breeze in the air helps keep things nice and cool. What a perfect day to sit outside and take in the crystal clear views. Things are still cooling off at night as we dropped to 49 degrees last night. Two days in a row now with no rain and warm temperatures surely has crew happy. If you are planning a trip up be sure to bring plenty of water as trails conditions are hot and sunny. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good Afternoon, We have a sunny day with no expected rain! After spending what felt like an eternity the crew are happier than ever to be outside soaking in the sunlight. And what does crew do for fun on top of the mountain you ask. Why they attend wonderful outdoor concerts preformed by our very own Heather and Judy of course. And we must say there is no better venue for this masterpiece to be heard. With nothing but sunshine all day we are expecting temperatures to reach well into the upper 60s. Hopefully that will be enough to dry camp off after receiving 0.6 inches of rain last night. We are staying on the cooler side of things at night with temperatures dropping to 48 degrees. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good Afternoon All, There are many wonderful trails to take that will lead you to the summit of Mount LeConte. Each one is unique and beautiful in their own ways offering majestic views, towering waterfalls, fields of wildflower and plenty of wildlife sightings. The most popular of these trails has to be Alum Cave Trail. The trailhead for Alum Cave can be found off the side of highway 441 approximately 10 miles from Gatlinburg. This trail will lead you all the way to the summit of the mountain in 5.5 miles of steep climbing (2763 feet of elevation gain to be exact). Alum Cave Trail offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and some unique points of interest from Arch Rock, Inspiration Point and Alum Cave Bluffs. This is a trail you surely need to cross off your list. Today has been back and forth between rain showers and sunshine. Yesterday we received 1.5 inches of rain and temperatures made it all the way to 63 degrees. Last night we only dropped to 43 degrees. Expect trail conditions to be wet so plan your trip up accordingly. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Greetings Everyone, Today seems to be a perfect day to fill up our mugs with hot coffee and relax on the porch to watch rain clouds roll by. Small scattered showers have brought cooler temperatures for us and looks like its got all the wildlife on the move as we watch for deer to cross camp in their daily routines. Surely there is no better way to spend an afternoon. We received a fairly large amount of rain yesterday, 1.60 inches to be exact. We are currently at 59 degrees and lows expected to reach the upper 40s. Rain is still on the forecast so bring those rain jackets and plan for wet conditions on the trails if you are planning a visit up the mountain. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Hello All, We got lucky yesterday and only got .10 inches of rain but that certainly can't be said for conditions today. Mother Nature can't seem to make her mind up today as we have experienced weather ranging from small patches of sunny filled sky, heavy rain fall with thunderstorms, dense fog and even a bit of hail. For anyone planning a trip up expect trail conditions to be fairly wet as the rain keeps falling on us at the top. Temperatures are holding steady at a high of 64 degrees and reaching lows of upper 40s. It may be gloomy outside but behind the doors of LeConte Lodge you will only find high spirited laughter as friends and family gather around the heaters for impromptu jam sessions on the guitars or competitive matches of Monopoly under the light of kerosene lanterns. Needless to say no matter the weather there is always room for a good time atop Mount LeConte. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good Afternoon No matter what trail you choose to make the journey to the top of Mount LeConte, you will get to experience the wonders that this national park has to offer. From the waterfalls of Trillium Gap to the expansive views of Alum Cave we are reminded of the words by John Muir "Climb the mountains and get their good tidings." We are currently at 59 degrees on top of the mountain and continuing to stay around 48 degrees at night. No rain has fallen on us as of yet today but the constant passing of dark and heavy rain clouds has crew on standby with rain jackets. Mid way up Alum Cave Trail.
