Good afternoon,
Though rain is on the forecast for later today we are staying dry this morning. Clear skies are allowing for some fantastic views and not to mention a wonderful sunrise. Temperatures are on the rise today, currently 65 and climbing. For those planning a trip up be sure to pack plenty of water and bring that rain gear.

Good morning all,
It looks as though we are going to spend the day in the clouds. Fingers crossed for a breeze to push it all out. With no direct sunlight it’s feeling chilly in camp, currently 54 degrees but doesn’t feel like it. Forecast are not calling for any rain today but looking at these clouds I’m a little sceptical. Our overnight lows are staying in the upper 30s and low 40s so be sure to pack those layers. Happy Saturday,
what a perfect Saturday it is. Clear skies are providing some wonderful views. The sunsets have been absolutely breath taking. If you are lucky enough to be at the summit on one of these clear evenings be sure to make a stop at Cliff Tops for sunset. It is currently 58 degrees outside with a slight breeze bringing in a chill factor that feels more like low 50s. No rain on the forecast. Still remaining on the chill side at night with last nights low coming in at 38 degrees. Those planning an overnight could benefit from an extra layer. Good morning,
Unfortunately, we’ve run into some rain again this morning causing a wet/muddy mess reported on Rainbow Falls Trail and Trillium Gap Trail. PLEASE remain cautious is you plan on using those trails over the next couple of days as the rain continues. We are expecting the sun to shine again tomorrow afternoon and most of the week looks clear after that. We’re ready for a dry out!! Yesterday, we reached a high of 61 allowing the crew to do their laundry and for guests and day hikers to enjoy the sunshine for a little bit. Overnight, our low got down to a chilly 45 and is still at 45 as the rain continues to pour causing a cold day. We’ve had quite a few day hikers up already warming by the fire with hot beverages waiting for the llamas. Our llamas will be making an extra trip this week and will be up today, Thursday as well as Friday. If you visit us, make sure you come say hi to our llama friends! Good Afternoon,
Its a beautiful and sunny day at 6593' today as all the crew are running around in shorts and playing with frisbees in between shifts. While at 55 degrees, it is a little chilly in the shade but so comfortable in the sunshine. Overnight surprisingly, we reached a lot of 34 degrees. In JUNE!!! None of us were prepared for the cold snap. I went to bed with my windows open as we were only expected to hit the lower 50s and woke up to a chill I was not ready for. Needless to say I struggled getting out of bed until I noticed the beautiful sunrise peeking through my curtains. Today, were expected to stay in the mid to upper 50s and could see some scattered showers in the late afternoon. If you're planning a hike up, remember your waterproof gear as this time of year, you never know when we might get a scattered shower in the late afternoon. Have a fantastic Tuesday! Good Morning,
In a turn of events, the sun is shining, birds are chirping and guests are moving about with their morning coffee. Yesterday our high was 57 and overnight low 52. While currently sitting at 53 degrees, we aren’t expecting much of a warm up today and should be seeing some scattered showers in the late afternoon/evening. If you are planning a hike up, remain cautious as the trails continue to be on the wet/slicker side. We hope to see you at the top today! Good Morning All,
It has been another wet and dreary 24 hours with .45 inches of rain added to our yearly total. With a high yesterday of 55 and low of 51, it was nice to walk around in a T-shirt and pants (as long as it wasn’t raining). Today, we are expecting much of the same while currently sitting at 53 degrees and a light rain is falling from the sky. If you plan to hike up soon, remember that the trails leading to the summit are often muddy leading to slippery spots. We have received reports of flooding on Rainbow Falls Trail as well as a slick muddy trail towards the head of Trillium Gap Trail. As Trillium Gap Trail continues to be worked on, there are areas that haven’t been filled with crushed rock to allow for traction on the trail. Please be extremely cautious when using these trails as the rain continues to pour. Good Morning,
It may be rainy and cold outside but within the rustic walls of leConte Lodge it is nice and toasty. With the heaters going and hot coffee pouring it is a nice oasis for those that braved the elements to escape the city and be surrounded by nature of the mountain. Rain is continuing today and not expected to let up. Yesterday we received 0.30 inches. A slight breeze in the air has it feeling colder than it really is, 53 degrees. Last night we only dropped to 51 degrees. For those planning a hike up be sure to pack that rain gear. Water levels on the trails are higher than normal, especially Rainbow Falls trail at the creek crossings. Good Afternoon,
Good afternoon,
The rain have finally caught up to us. Heavy rain clouds are lingering around the mountain dumping rain throughout the day. It doesn’t appear like it’s going to let up any time soon. More rain is on the forecast for the next few days. Expect trail conditions to be wet and high creek levels. Be sure to pack that rain gear. It is currently 54 degrees out and not looking to get much warmer. Overnight lows are continuing to float in the mid 40s. Pack those warm layers. |
