Finally, a little sunshine! Yesterday stayed cloudy, but barely any rain fell, only .01". The high was a much warmer 63 and the low was 49 over night. Today it is a warm 65 already and partly sunny! A very welcome change from the constant rain and clouds over the past week and some change. Keep that sunshine coming!
Good morning from a cloudy, but not as wet mountain top! Yesterday's high was 57 and the low was 50 and we received .5" of rain once again. Today has still been on the cooler side, sitting right in the mid 50s, but the sun is trying its hardest to break through some of the cloud cover that is socking us in. Everyone have a lovely start to your week!
Well, for as dreary as it was all day yesterday, the weather did us a real solid there at the end of the day and cleared up so we could have a crew picnic on the porch and watch fireworks down in the valley (and thankfully, no further alien shenanigans...) ! Yesterday's high was only 56 and the low was 50 and the mountain received a steady .5" of drizzle throughout the day. Today we are in for more rain and it is still on the cooler side, still in the mid 50s. There is still a flash flood watch for the area until at least this evening, so I would highly recommend against using the Rainbow Falls trail today and possibly tomorrow as some of the stream crossings on it can become quite treacherous. Everyone be safe and aware of your footing and surroundings when hiking in these slippery conditions!
Happy Independence Day! We have certainly had a couple of exciting days up here lately. Two days ago, a giant spaceship appeared out of the clouds directly above our lodge, so who knows what's up with that. We started watching the "news" to see if this was going on anywhere else. Turns out, these spaceships have also been seen over the major photogenic monuments of the world such as Los Angeles, The Washington Memorial (White House?), and the Taj Mahal.
Thank goodness we had a few guests here at the lodge to help. An MIT graduate (who also helped with the Jurassic Park investigation 22 years ago) discovered a hidden spaceship transmission while using the park radios, so apparently they are aliens or something. After asking around among the guests for a doctor or perhaps an air force pilot for assistance, we found a young man from west Philadelphia, born and raised, who volunteered to help. We also found Bill Pullman (Casper, 1995). This morning, our three unlikely "heroes" formed a plan to upload a virus into the main spaceship in outer space to take down the smaller ship's shields so that all the Cousin Eddies around the world could fly inside them and destroy them with sciences and maths. Thankfully, the weather cleared up for about an hour this morning so they could fly. Now the alien peril is no more. "Perhaps its fate that today is the 4th of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom, not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution -- but from annihilation... from aliens" -Bill Pullman (Casper, 1995) Yesterday's high was 59 degrees and the low was 51. We received one inch of rain and it is still coming down now. It is only 55 degrees at this moment, so pack something warm to wear up top! Everyone have a great Fourth of July! Also, we recommend that you watch the movie Independence Day to celebrate today. So sorry about the lack of text yesterday! Sometimes the internet up here can be very picky about what it will and will not upload. It was cool and rainy yesterday, the high was 61 and the low was 49 and we had 1.2" of rain. Today has been very much the same so far, the temperature only in the mid 50's and showers throughout the morning. There is a flash flood warning for the area through tomorrow because of all the steady rain this week, so be cautious and aware on trail and have a safe Friday!
Rabbit, Rabbit! Trail update for the weekend: ALUM CAVE TRAIL WILL BE OPEN THIS THURSDAY! Just for this holiday weekend the Alum Cave trail will be open for an additional day tomorrow, July 2.
Yesterday's high was 62, the low was 49 and we had 1.26" of rainfall throughout the day and into the evening. Today it is cloudy and a cool 54 degrees with a few showers here and there already this morning. |
