Good Afternoon All, July has certainly brought warmer weather. We are seeing more and more sunny days with temperatures easily reaching into the 70s. With all that sunshine we are starting to see the beginnings of some beautiful wildflowers at the top. Though conditions at the top are perfect, it is getting very hot in the valley. Expect trail conditions for the first few miles to be in the 90s. Be sure to hike with PLENTY of water and sunscreen is always a good idea. We are currently at a perfectly breezy 65 degrees. Spending most of the day buried deep in the clouds. With plenty of day hikers enjoying sack lunches in the dinning hall, Llamas getting unpacked off the back porch and a full camps worth of overnight guests on the way up, crew are in full swing. We couldn't ask for a better way to spend the day. We love being on top of the mountain but enjoy even more the opportunity to help others get out and enjoy this wonderful mountain. -Adventure is out there.

Good morning! Yesterday was another beautiful but chilly day with temps ranging from 64 to 52 degrees we were all in jackets but enjoying the intermittent sunshine. There's something to be said for a grey day. While the sun is missed, the dark clouds bring a rest to the body that is at times much needed. After a beautiful sunset, the pinks and purples of sunrise could be seen in the valley (although we couldn't see it ourselves) it was interesting to see the colors change over Pigeon Forge as the sun came up. It is supposed to be another clear day for us up top with rain expected tomorrow evening. As we are in the clouds now, that sun isn't looking too promising but the mountain is forever changing the weather up top. Enjoy the cooler day! Can you name this insect?? -Adventure is out there.

Yesterday, our high reached a cool 65 and overnight low was a chilly 49. Odd for summer. But we are enjoying the change from the warmer temps below. We aren't expecting any rain today and the intermittent clouds should keep temps a little cooler at the top. It makes our llamas happy to cool down up top within the clouds! Have a fantastic start to your week, we hope to see you up top! Here is a throwback picture (Courtesy of John Northrup) from October 16th last season of Andy to start your Monday off right! -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436867) Good morning! The sun set last night on a surprising beautiful and partly sunny day. We were all shocked to see the brilliant colors of the sunset over the horizon and then again this morning with sunrise. While expecting rain throughout the day, we only received .23 inches, our high was 60 degrees and overnight low was 53. It was a chilly day to say the least but a beautiful one as well. Today, we were expecting rain but the forecast has changed leaving us with a warm sunny day up top. We hope you all enjoy this lovely Sunday! The Monkshood are blooming! -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436867) Good morning! With a high of 70 degrees and an overnight low of 54, we welcomed .43 inches of rain as well as more than the usual amount of day hikers and guests alike. Today we are expecting rain showers and thunderstorms throughout the day and should reach temps in the upper 60s! Continue to bring rain gear and PLENTY of water! One of our overnight guests brought up a Pillsbury Dough Boy in honor of Denny James. Poppin’ Fresh has been on many a hiking trip (two to LeConte); Denny used to take it around with him while training to hike the AT until he got sick and couldn’t anymore. He has passed since but his family continues to take him on hiking trips in remembrance of this loved man. Today his family will be making the trip down Boulevard to add three miles to Poppin’ Fresh’s total AT milage for a total of 27 miles. We are happy to share Denny’s (and Poppin’ Fresh’s) story and let their memory live on. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436867) Happy Friday!! We are enjoying this busy, cool day up top with temps currently at 63 degrees. While we had a busy 4th, a majority of day hikers seem to be taking advantage of the weekend after the holiday. Yesterday, we reached a high of 70 degrees with overnight temps hitting 55 degrees. Perfect weather for a hoodie and shorts. An additional .62 inches of rain brings our total for the year to 57.41 inches. With the expectation of rain today, we are all running around with rain jackets in anticipation. While it hasn't hit us yet, we can see the dark rain clouds in the distance. While we are in the 60s here, it'll be in the 80s to 90s below. Please remember to bring plenty of water for yourself! Over the next couple of days, we suggest waterproof layers to protect you from the rain as well as water to stay hydrated! WANTED!!! Earl the squirrel... While we laugh at this poster (handmade by our wonderful Heather), squirrels have become a nuisance on Mount LeConte. Stealing wallets, phones and food alike. When in the park and on LeConte please do not feed the wildlife including the squirrels. Thanks!!! -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436867) Good Afternoon! It was an amazing Independence Day for guests and crew yesterday. We enjoyed the warm weather (our new high at 75 degrees) with a picnic on the back porch of the dining room (special thanks grill master Heather) followed by two rounds of capture the flag. Afterwards, we went back to the porch to view the ant sized fireworks that were flashing throughout the valley. They were SO tiny, that we were reminded how small this world is and how high above the town we really are. Today, we’ve had a very warm morning sitting at 68 degrees and rising; with the expectation of rain and storms this afternoon and for the next 2 days. Remember that rain gear! -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436867) Happy Fourth of July!!! All of crew can't contain their excitement for the holiday. Though the amazing weather might have a little to do with it as well as the excuse to paint faces. Guests tonight along with crew are hoping the skies stay clear into the night so the fireworks below can be seen from the summit. After dinner has been served and all is clean the crew will enjoy a grill out on the back porch followed by a "friendly" game of capture the flag. Fresh fruit out of watermelon baskets is always a sure sign of a good time. Today we had another beautiful day outside. Very little cloud coverage and not a drop of rain. We reached a new high temperature for the year as we hit 75 degrees! Nights are continuing to stay on the warm side as we only reached 53 degrees last night. We would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Fourth of July. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436867) Good Afternoon All, We have another perfect weather day here at the summit. Clear views all the way to the valley floor on one side of the mountain and views of peaks fading into the horizon from the other side. With no rain and the sun beating directly down on us we might see highest temperatures for the year so far today. As of now we are sitting at 71 degrees (high for the year 71.5). A slight breeze is helping to encourage folks to hangout on the porches and take in the views. Warm temperatures continue into the night as we only dropped to 56 degrees last night. For those planning a hike up be sure to bring plenty of water, the Gatlinburg area has been seeing temperatures in the low 90s. We hope everyone has a fun and safe holiday tomorrow. (35.654261, -83.436827) Good morning, As I sit patiently awaiting the arrival of llamas, with their water buckets on standby, I find the time to reflect on the beautiful morning. The cool breeze passing through the trees and around the cabins makes for a chilly morning. A slight fog keeps rolling up and over the mountain letting the sunshine through only for brief moments. Though the sunrise didn't fill the sky with color there is plenty of green growing tall from the ground all around us. What a wonderful place of peace and beauty to be. Last night the glow of the heaters filled camp as temperatures dropped to a chilly 51 degrees. Today we are expecting to warm up with highs to be in the upper 60s. July still remains a rain free month but likely to change tonight with slight chance of scattered showers. -Adventure is out there.
