Greetings valley dwellers! It's Labor Day! YAY! It was a beautiful day to hike up Alum. Cool temperatures, warm sun, and birds to serenade us. The llama boys brought Ryn back with them today and Tate came back ready to work last night. Thank you to EVERYONE who brought us chocolate for Labor Day weekend. We are stocked to the brim with awesome candy. We truly appreciate any and all gifts we receive from you all. Fruit, candy, coffee, booze...all of it. You guys are AWESOME. The low was 46 last night and the current temperature is 66. Sunny skies and good vibes. Love, Turnip Jewl weed growing under the old lodge
Greetings valley dwellers! Another busy one today so I'll make this quick. The sun has been shinning all day and the dinning hall has been a revolving door while hoards of guests and day hikers have been coming in and out. Remember, Alum will be open tomorrow for Labor Day. The low last nigh was 47 and the current temperature is a sunny 64! Happy Labor Day hiking! Love, Turnip. Trillium gap trail, looking beautiful as always
Greetings valley dwellers! It's Saturday and the lodge is packed to the summit with guests and day hikers. P-nut is selling t shirts faster than Henry can fold them and Jess is killing it in the kitchen with her cookies and sack lunches. The sun is teasing us, playing peek a boo around the clouds. Labor Day weekend is kicking off to a great start. Alum will be open on Monday for the holiday so grab your packs and poles and get up here! The low last night was 46 and the current temperature is 60. Still chilly, stay warm and dry! Love, Turnip. Beautiful mountain ash

Fall is quickly approaching! The temperatures are dropping, the leaves and moss are changing, and the mountain ash are blooming. Before you know it the pumpkin spice everything will be hitting the shelves down there and the Halloween stores will be popping up all over your city. I don't know about you but I am PUMPED. Fall is a beautiful season, especially up here on the mountain. We have our friends with St. Jude and the Church of the Good Shepherd up here staying tonight! They have been staying at the lodge for many years and include guests from all over the state of Tennessee. It's still misty and frigid at the lodge, with more cold and wet weather to come. Rain gear and warm jackets for the top are a must. Maybe even a blanket and some slippers so you can enjoy your hot chocolate and a rocking chair in complete comfort. The low last night was 52 and the current temperature is 55. Happy hiking! Love, Turnip. Misty mountain path to the lodge
Greetings valley dwellers! The mountains are smokey and wet today. Perfect conditions for reading, napping, or...working out! Jess and I pumped some iron at the shelter before the rain hit and are feeling pretty awesome. A beautiful cloud dusted sunset brought with it some thunder storms so it looks like a rainy weekend ahead. Despite the rain, our beautiful ray of sunshine, Pauline came up ready to work last night and will be with us the rest of the season, so come say howdy on your next trip up! Some of the dudes went down for their days off so we are rocking it at minimum crew this coming week. Our llama boys will be here tomorrow carrying their wide loads so remember to leave room at the trillium gap parking lot for them. The low last night was a crisp 51 and the current temperature is a wet and lightning fuelled 62. Be safe! Bring your flippers and rain jackets, it's a wet one. Love always, Turnip Crew clothes on the line, getting a second rinse
