Good morning,
We had a busy start to the weekend! Llamas and hikers and beautiful weather helped start this Columbus Day weekend. After a 65/41 day we are stuck in the clouds, sprinkling, and extremely windy. Pack a windbreaker and some layers! We will have some rain rolling in tonight and hanging out till Thursday so make sure to pack accordingly. At the lodge we are all about our hiking shoes. Comfort, durability, goretex (or not) it is key for working up here. Before hiking up here please wear your shoes a few days before to make sure they're comfortable, and most importantly, not disintegrating on your way up! Happy weekend!

Good Morning,
After enjoying 64/42 temps and a gorgeous sunset we are looking forward to this weekend’s weather. Although the rain has not blessed us with it's presence we are grateful for the clear nights under the moon and stars. If you are into night photography now’s the time for it! Llamas tomorrow and Sunday. Bring a jacket on your hike up, it's getting a bit nippy in the dusk! What beautiful weather we have been experiencing! Clear days with fantastic colors for both sunrise and sunset, mild temps in the 60/40 range, what more could you ask for?
Our local bear friend has not visited us in the past two days but his absence is filled with the usual voracious squirrel population-- don't feed them! Alan and the llama train are coming up today, Friday, and Sunday so make sure to say hello and give them room on both trail and in the parking lot. Due to the fires last year many trails in the park have been closed. Our beloved Bullhead trail will be closed for a while yet but this weekend we were pleasantly surprised to learn that Chimney Tops is reopening! You can read about it here: http://www.local8now.com/content/news/Park-to-open-Chimney-Tops-Trail-October-6-449339773.html We hope that this trends continues! Good Afternoon,
What a way to ring in October. Temperatures wasted no time in dropping fast as the sun dipped below the horizon. Our high managed to reach 59 degrees yesterday, but early this morning we bottomed out at 34 degrees. Once the sun made its presence known over High Top to the east, several grassy patches around camp were covered in frost. There was a slight breeze at times, sure to have made the walk out to Myrtle Point for sunrise a bit chilly. At the moment, the skies are impeccably clear and the big orb in the sky is shining bright. Great day to be outdoors! Reservations for the 2018 season kickoff tomorrow, and our team is ready! Have a great rest of the weekend. |
