Good Afternoon, We would like to introduce a new crew member, Morgan. This is Morgans first season working with us but she has been visiting the lodge since early childhood as she came up with her parents and 8 siblings. Her favorite trail to hike to the lodge on is the Boulevard Trail as she says "it has my favorite views". On her days off Morgan enjoys taking her hammock out to Myrtle Point and relaxing under the stars. Outside of the lodge she spends most of her time backpacking throughout the park and along the AT. Be sure to say hi to Morgan on your visit to the lodge and ask her about her favorite llama Jimney. Also her favorite color is yellow. Today has been on the chilly side as we are currently at 57 degrees with fairly heavy winds making it feel even colder. Last nights low only reached 49 degrees. No rain on the forecast for today but expecting heavy storms the next few days so be sure to pack that rain gear. -Adventure is out there.

Good Afternoon Folks, Today is another wonderful day at the top. With a rain free day and cooler temperatures (compared to the valley below) most visitors to the summit are found outside soaking up all the beauty. Whether you are coming up for the day, looking for a few hours get away or you are coming up as an overnight guest, be sure to stop at Cliff Tops or Myrtle Point to get some spectacular views of Great Smoky National Park. Both are less than a mile from the Lodge and any crew member would be happy to give you directions if needed. Yesterday we received a light 0.10 inches of rain. Last nights low was a surprising 52 degrees with high of 63 degrees. Currently we are at 58 degrees and forecast are not calling for rain for the rest of the evening. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good afternoon, Enjoying cooler weather today as we hover around the upper 50s and lower 60s. Yesterday surprised us with a high of 70! Hot for us this time of year although, things can change quickly. Our overnight low was 53 with again, no new rain. We’ve had a constant rain cloud over us throughout the day but no rain falling. The llamas appreciated the cloud cover creating another cool break from the hot valley. Tonight we have a slight chance of rain showers that is supposed to continue into the morning hours. Have a great rest of your Sunday!! -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good morning, With yet again another beautiful morning, crew sit outside and enjoy their breakfast with coffee before starting the rigorous work day. While currently at a comfortable 55 degrees, we will surely reach the mid 60s again later today. Still a little warm for us in October. Hopefully, we will see our first flurries before the month is over. Yesterday, we reached a high of 65 while the overnight low was 52. I enjoyed sitting on the back porch for hours last night after the sun went down. A quiet camp and clear sky made for a relaxing evening. Today though, camp will be nothing short of busy as our first weekend in October commences. Our busiest month of the season shouldn't disappoint as leaves start changing their colors and shedding of their respective trees. Have a great weekend, we hope to see you on Leconte! -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Happy Friday! We are currently enjoying another clear and sunny day here on LeConte. With temps in the lower 50s here, the llamas will be enjoying the break from the heat when they arrive. Yesterday, our high reached a lovely 65 while our overnight low hit 52 degrees. Today is expected to be another nice day as temps are slowly creeping towards the lower 60s. Another beautiful day and start to a fantastic weekend! On Wednesday of this week, Jacob Line, made the hard hike leaving from the top of the mountain, reaching the trailhead and back up again in order to bring windows for some updates to our managers quarters. At the trail head, his mom, Lisa Line, met him with a Subway sandwich and sent him on his way. Alum Cave trail was no match for Jacob and his 70 pound pack (a frame pack, five bungee cords and the windows) as he made it up in two and a half hours. Thank you Crowder Construction and Jacob for all your hard work! -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good afternoon, A constant fog has fallen over camp throughout the day today as we anticipate rain showers in the afternoon. While we did receive a couple of minutes of a light shower yesterday, we didn’t collect enough rain to get a measurement. Our high yesterday was 59 while our overnight low hit a chilly 49. The cooler temps are causing crew and guests alike to bundle in layers as the sun goes down. While our llamas were here, they enjoyed the cooler socked in weather while eating their pancakes while at a comfortable 56 degrees. If you are visiting, please remember those waterproof layers as well as items to keep you warm! -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good Afternoon, A slight breeze has brought in heavy cloud coverage that is taking over all of camp. We hope to have clear views in time for sunset but for the time being everyone is gathered indoors by the heaters enjoying hot chocolate and coffee. We are currently at a chilly 52 degrees. Last night we dropped to 47 degrees but thankfully had no rain. Fall is certainly upon us here at the top and in no time at all old man winter will be here. The crew are already taking bets on what day we will see first snowfall. No matter the current weather conditions we must say that there is truly no other place we would rather be.
