I stared out my loft window with tired eyes. The wind still pummeled the tree tops in the distance. Everything was black and grey, I couldn’t tell if what I saw where clouds or sky. A faint shimmer caused me to refocus. I smiled. Mount LeConte was resting right at the tip of the cloud ceiling. I smiled even harder…there was a chance. This time I gazed out the kitchen window. Coffee dripped quietly into my thirsty cup. Clouds broke away in the distance exposing twilight along the horizon. A sense of urgency came over me. Grabbing the full mug of morning nectar, I marched off into the darkness of the forest…
There was more than a chance.
