Alexander, this must be one heck of a peaceful and exhilarating job you have up there, I would bet that it almost feels like vacation/heaven up there at times.

I'm thinking of backpacking up the Alum trail in a few weeks. Assuming the snow is like it is now, what do you recomment for extra footwear? Snowshoes? Microspikes? Cramp-ons?

@David Barry,
It depends on the conditions. If there is a lot of fresh powder you will want snowshoes. If it has been warm and the snow is packed down and turned to ice, you will want micro-spikes. I always carry my ice walkers this time of year. Snow shoes will just depend on the depth of the snow. I hope this helps.
