What a fantastic day for a hike up the mountain. It was a pleasant trip up. A lot of views and a cool breeze. I have to say, in the 8 years I have been on this mountain, this is the best weather I have seen for April. The snow is melted and turned the corner around the kitchen and were greeted by the llamas. What a welcomed sight. They were able to make it up Trillium. Now, Trillium trail is still closed, they are allowing the llamas to use the trail.
The season is starting to feel somewhat normal.
Chris and I had a great time on our days off, but we are ready to get back to work. I will leave you with some images of our favorite four legged friends.

Allyson,

Hello. Glad to hear the weather's fairly nice. We are set to spend April 19th with you. We have two boys 11 and 9 that I believe will do well, but my concern is my wife Patricia. She's in good shape physically, but has a fear of heights. I think she's trying to be brave for us, and we'd really like to do Alum Cave Bluff (but have concerns). Any advice? Will we need crampons? Anthing else? Thanks.

Chan,
You will not need crampons unless we get more snow. The trail is clear. Is she the type of person that is afraid of heights or is she ok as long as there is a wall on one side. The areas that some consider scary have cables on them and there is a rock wall on one side. I am scared of heights, but I am ok on Alum. See you up top.

Allyson,

Heading up to LeConte on Saturday and was curious as to the conditions on the Boulevard. I understand it was pretty treacherous last week. Any improvement over the weekend?

Brent, I was just told by a crew member, who hiked the Boulevard this afternoon, that the area around the cables and under the cliffs was still really bad. You will probably do ok as long as you have crampons.
