Good morning folks,
Another crystal clear start to the day. Calm winds are blowing the tops of the fir trees making it feel much chillier. The high yesterday was a warm 45 degrees. The overnight low dipped down to 25 degrees. It’s currently 27 degrees with a light breeze. With the warming tend we have been experiencing our snow depth stands at 6”. Traction is needed to safely reach the summit. With Hwy. 441 opening it took now time for day hikers to come up Alum. I ran into a few people that saw me Cross-Country skiing and they laughed and admired my adventure. Weather should be great today with increasing clouds later with snow showers late tonight into tomorrow afternoon. Upwards of 3-5” are likely. Temps will plummet into the teens/single digits for lows this weekend. That will make it feel more like the winter on LeConte. Be aware that conditions change in the higher elevations. It’s going to be another great day on the mountain. Have a great day! Striking a match. The oil lamps stir away the darkness. My day begins. The sun is rising with much color over high top. Hot coffee in hand. I watch and enjoy my life on the mountain. See you at the top! PNUT
