GOOD MORNING FROM MT LECONTE!
It’s going to be a snowy Sunday at the lodge—which is a tremendous improvement over the slushy Saturday that we experienced yesterday! The current temperature is 20 degrees. The mountain received about an inch of snow last night and it’s still snowing. The road to Newfound Gap is closed. I ventured up to Cliff Tops late yesterday afternoon in the fog and the clouds to observe the sunset. Very unlikely—but it’s important to maintain a positive attitude. Suddenly at the appointed time the clouds and fog cleared away and I saw a sunset. It wasn’t spectacular, but I did get to see a sunset! Think positive thoughts! Stay warm! HAPPY TRAILS!! Hi Bert, I just started following your blog in the New Year, Happy, New Year to you. We love the Smokies and Mt. LeConte my wife and I climbed on our honeymoon back in 1980. We didn’t stay at the lodge as no reservation but our oldest son stays there once a year for the past many with a group, tradition. Your my connection to that beautiful place and love to read your entries and see those beautiful pictures. Only in my dreams could I do what you do. Thank you so much. Stay warm, fed, rested and enjoy all the beautiful and keep up all those wonderful blogs. 😁👍
