The clouds have apparently settled in across the upper elevations of the Smokies. We’ll be lucky to enjoy any sunshine today with what looks like a cloudy and wet forecast for the latter half of the day. After lunch time is when the potential for rain and isolated storms ramps up. So visitors intent on summiting the mountain today should do so on the early side, then get back down before the weather turns sour. Temps will hover between the 50s and 60s, while winds should be light. Sunday’s forecast looks to be a repeat of what’s being called for today.
