Morning y'all, It's a beautiful, blustery morning up top. The high yesterday reached 55 degrees. The overnight low was 38 degrees. It was 40 degrees and mostly cloudy at 7am observation. The mountain received no new snow and there is only patchy snow remaining up top. The trails are sure to be sloppy and slick, I would recommend Microspikes if you intend to reach the summit. I am hiking down tomorrow morning, the blog will return when the crew hikes up for the season. Enjoy the Smokies for me!

"Lao Tzu" had twenty-three wives; I doubt that he had much time for travellng.

Lao Tzu probably hiked a LOT to avoid the nagging all those wives sent his way :-)

Roger that Doug, I often think of the quote from RK I believe, "the woods are lovely dark and deep but I have promises to keep and miles to go before I sleep". JP, thanks for keeping us in touch with our great mountian through the winter months November to March. I found this site just last year, and I've referred many people to it. You've done a great job as the caretaker , safe travels, and hope to see you back , w.
