Heading down to Bryson City next week. I've done the hike in the summer up to Mount Leconte along the Alum Cave Trail. Wanted to take the group I'm going with up either next Monday or Tuesday, but how are the trail conditions? Last year we tried but there was too much ice and snow to get up to the peak

Thank you Seth for your pictures and words again this year. My wife and I visited the park yearly for over 20 years and a trip up to the lodge was always on my to do list but never seemed to be enough time. Health issues stopped me in my tracks 10 years ago. Seeing your's and others pictures and words is as close as I, and i'm sure others as well, as close as we'll get to be there and see the beauty from that vantage point. Safe travel and hope you're back next winter. p.s. the pictures with the lantern were some of my favorite.

The last thing I do each night before I shut down the computer, is read your daily blog. I go to bed with your beautiful images of the mountain fresh in my mind. They are very effective at erasing the bad news I've been hearing all day.
