Good Morning,
November has arrived and so have the winds of winter. Although temps on the mountain aren’t terribly cold yet, we’re heading that way as the day progresses. Winds today and tonight will be quite gusty, up to 40mph predicted, before calming sometime Monday. A Freeze Warning is in place for our area tonight, and wind chills will be driving these temps downward into feeling like single digits. There is a slight chance for precip at times today, but so far it’s been just a mix of clouds and mist. The sun returns to the scene tomorrow and temps should ascend by midweek to create more comfortable hiking conditions. Reminder that starting this evening and lasting through the end of the season guests will be served supper after sunset. Day hikers do not want to be getting caught out in this cold. Look at the forecast in advance of your hike, dress appropriately, and know when to turn around. Temps plummet when dusk hits, and it can get darker sooner in the valleys and deep hollers at the base of the mountain. A special congratulations is in order for our very own Emily Buie and Scott Hengehold on tying the knot yesterday. It was a beautiful day for such a joyful occasion and the crew is elated for them both. Have a great day and stay warm.
