It's pretty chilly up on the mountain today. Yesterday was intermittently cloudy with a few spurts of rain, just .12in. The temperature was determined to stay just in the 50's with the high reaching 59 and the low settling at 51. Today it has been sitting pretty at a cool 50 all day and it doesn't seem to want to warm up at all.
We have been in and out of clouds all day. One minute we are completely socked in and the next you can see straight down onto Brushy Mountain (which is absolutely bursting with fall reds and oranges at the moment!). In fact, this week, fall colors are peaking around 4,000 ft and they are a joy to look down on from Myrtle Point or Cliff Tops. If anyone is coming up Trillium this week, I would thoroughly encourage taking a little extra time to do the Brushy Mountain spur trail (.4 miles there and back from the gap). Same goes for the Rocky Spur loop on the Rainbow Falls trail. Both will be spectacular for the next 2 weeks!
