Rain, Snow?

1/19/2011

High 32, Low 26.

Looks to be one of those famous foggy, rainy days on Leconte, where you can't help but pick up Icicle swords, fight mythical creatures, and speculate how amazing the sunset is just beyond that darned fog. It continually switches between snow/ice/and rain every 30 minutes or so. There is a new .5" of snow on the ground. It's Icy and Slushy.

Alexander's Leconte Laundry Guide:
1. Hike about 10 Gallons of Water from the spring to the kitchen
2. Heat up this water on the stove.
3. Turn on NPR and Drink some Red Panax Ginseng Extractum from the Whole Earth Grocery Store in Gatlinburg, while waiting.
4. Empty hot water into several different Vessel's used for Laundry purposes only.
5. Fill the first Vessel with a little detergent.
6. Wash in Soap, Rinse with Hot water. Stick into duffel bag.
7. Hang up clothes in personal cabin on a clothes line, preferably at least 2Ft. from heater as to not make any new unneeded arm holes.
8. Sit back and enjoy that humidity that you've been missing.

Alex,

After reading about your difficulty in doing laundry, I should not complain about doing laundry with the convenience of a washer and dryer. Keep up the very good work on your daily blog. I enjoy reading the blog daily.

Wow, after presenting us with the two "black & white" photos, that third is a smack of color!

I love that foggy look, but I imagine it get's old after a while.

Great sunset pic Alex! Definitely sounds like doing the laundry is a chore in itself. Kill off a couple of those mythical creatures for me. We're expecting 3 - 6" of snow here in the part of the Bluegrass State that I'm in starting tomorrow. Hope you have a great day and stay safe.

Aren't we a curious bunch getting all personal about how you do things? LOL Thanks for anwering the questions everyone is wondering. Life is definitely different for you than us. Here in Ohio we sit with 1/2 inch of freezing ice drizzle and everything is closing down! I sure do enjoy hearing about life of on the Mt. and seeing the fabulous pics you post. Thanks! Looking for snow Thursday in Ohio. A lot of ours melted yesterday in our 37 degree warm up! Back to the single digits on Friday BRR!! Be safe up there. Thanks

Thanks for the laundry info I asked about yesterday! Hope I wasn't being too imposing, but when one doesn't have modern conveniences, it makes for curiousity! Your pictures get more magnificent...........please keep posting.

Great pics Alex.Don't forget the star trail image, just aim the camera toward the north and open the shutter for about an hour or so. Pick some nice foreground objects.

with all the winter weather closing 441, what would b the next best trail head to access the top of LeConte if alum cave is not accessable? Thinking of going up on 2/13/11.
