It was another awesome day on the mountain. The high never got above 69. The clouds rolled in and out but it never rained. We are enjoying the final days of summer on the mountain. It won't be long before the sound of kids running around and playing hide and seek will only be on the weekends. It is time to start watching for blackberries and blueberries to be in abundance. Look for them as you come up the trails. They should be ripe in the higher elevations.

Thanks for the blog Allyson, I'm in central Florida and every time I walk outside its like stepping into an oven. I'm almost obsessed with it not reaching eighty degrees on top of the mountain. I planning on visiting the park after the first snows which I'm guessing is December. Good to hear Woody is recovered he is quite the celebrity now. Keep up the good work!

Allyson Im sure knows better but I dont think it will take until December for the first snows up there. Probably sooner. Its like they live in a different world up there compared to us who are roasting!

Dan, it's funny, but I am just like you when it comes to the hallowed 80 degree mark on LeConte. Every summer I keep my fingers crossed and hope and hope it never hits 80. Don't know why, but it is just something I don't want to see happen. Just another thing that makes our mountain special, I suppose.
