The Rain Keeps Falling

"Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet." - Roger Miller

If you hike up today, you can bet you will be hiking in the rain. We received 2.22 inches yesterday and it is raining cats and dogs at the moment. The high yesterday was 55 with a low of 51. Don't let the rain deter you.  We have the heater on and plenty of hot chocolate and coffee to warm you up.

I can't believe you only got 2.2 inches of rain, down here in the valley (Oak Ridge) we got over 6 inches of rain !!!!!

I have those Leconte stairs falls pictures. There so cool. All I could do is stand in the middle of the stairs and laugh!! Talk about gusher of a rain storm!

A hike to Mt. LeConte in the pouring down rain is much better than a nice climate controlled office any day!

I will ditto that! It's 66 here in STL outside and the air is still on inside. Seriously, let's turn it up. I am so cold!
It would feel amazing to be outside and hiking to my favorite place! Who cares about the rain - that's what the rain gear is for!

Live in the other end of Sevier County. We have received over 5" of rain in the last 24 hours.

I love those steps......the rain never rains on my parade(hiking to LeConte). But the muscle cramps in my legs did. Broke my heart not getting up there with the family on the 28th of August. I will return next month to earn the right to wear my shirt, sure wish i had a bed though to sleep in when i reached the top........see you soon.

Bill said it about as good as can be said ! Like Debi, I love the photos of the steps leading down to the dining hall; this one is magnificent, with its sort of eery effect, dark blues colors, etc. Great shot. Rained here in London about all night, hard and steady; got to rake the gravels down in the lower driveway back into place; Gonna pave the rest of that drive next year; I'll be thinking of being at the lodge and dining in about four hours !!! Have a good evening all !

Took my first trip to LeConte last week with a good friend. Stayed 3 days. Apparently we missed the rain two days before our arrival and about 2 days after our departure. It was perfect. I guess my rock on the Rocky Spur sign overlook must still be bringing in the good luck....please don't knock it off.

As I sit here in my office watching the rain fall down, I catch myself drifting back to all the rainy hikes I have had in the past to the top. Wish I was doing it today, rain or shine.

My sister was determined to make the hike up and meet with cousin DJ. With Bad forecast I hope she made it, but knowing her I am sure there is nothing that could stop her.
