Another cold night. The low was 20 with a high of 30. We awoke to half an inch of the powder. Apparently spring is not here!

Beautiful sunrise. I love the contrast between the light in the sky, darkend tree and moutain and the white snow on the roof with a layer of clouds below. Very nice!

0.5" of snow, wow. Will winter ever pass into Spring? Hope all wildflower buds don't get nipped by warm and cold weather swings.

Also, WLOS, the local TV station in Asheville is reporting a Bigfoot sighting in a neighboring county. You can see the report on their web site. Just curious to know if anybody has ever heard rumors or even seen one of these creatures in the Smokies? Sightings seem to becoming more and more frequent.

Not saying I believe in the big fella, but I have heard strange noises at night in the backcountry that I can't identify. Really spooky sounds at times. I just build up the fire whenever something eerie happens. Makes you wonder.

I've seen more credible reports. That one looks like a hoax. I've had my eyes play tricks on me in the woods too. I know one thing, the backside of the Smokies is the largest tract of land without a road through it east of the Mississippi. If he's real it would be prime territory I'd imagine.

Enjoy the day up top. Looks like a wet weekend. Maybe more snow?

Absolutley beautiful photos. Nicely done!

The pictures are always great, but the last three days they have been outstanding. Keep up the good work.

I do believe in Bigfoot because he lives with me. He is 16 years old, a sophomore in high school and wears a size 14 shoe and I'm afraid he is still growing!

Thank you again Allyson for making my day a little brighter!!!! Love the pics!

Keep close to Nature's heart...and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.

We were at a track meet in Seymour yesterday and it was pretty cold. By the time we were ready to leave it had started raining. I figured you'd have snow up top this morning. Again, some fabulous pictures. Hope to make a day trip up this year.

The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization is planning a search in eastern TN April 7-10, possibly to include the Smoky mountains. You can read details at www.bfro.net

I hiked up Rainbow Falls and down Bullhead last Thursday the 17th and Bullhead was in great shape! No down trees and beautiful views.

Just wondering if Chewbacca has reservations at the Lodge. Keep up the great photos.

What's the current snow total for the year? I'm sure it's not done yet, but just wondering.

::hangs my head:: I'm in the Ashville area and it's just plain embarrassing to know we are getting publicity for this "bigfoot sighting", it's obviously a hoax....geez

On a brighter note, love your pictures, they are lovely!

Allyson - We're hiking up tomorrow and spending the night. We want to go down Bullhead Sunday morning - have you had any reports whether it's clear oe not?

I agree that this fuzzy video is a hoax. But I do believe Bigfoot is real, and just maybe living in NC and the Smokies. I've seen too much, heard too much and talked to too many believable people during my long lifetime to be convinced otherwise. It is only a matter of time before there is conclusive evidence of this magnificaent creature.

Knoxville television had reports of a "skunk ape" a few years ago in Greene or Campbell County (TN). This creature was supposedly similar to Bigfoot... turned out to be a hoax.

Allyson, your pictures make my day EVERY day!
