You Gotta Love Blue Skies and a Blanket of Snow

Not a whole lot of rocking going on. The temperatures stayed in the twenties for most of the day. The high was 27º with a low of 19º. The sun was shining bright, but there was not a lot of melting. The trails are going to be extremely icy today. If you are coming up, please have a pair of ice walkers for your boots. You will also want to make sure you have a good pair of water proof boots. Your feet are going to be wet and cold if you don't. The weather forecast is looking good for warmer weather and sunny days. We should see a lot of this snow disappearing over the next couple of days. Be safe and see you up top.

We rode up to Newfound Gap yesterday after you announced the snowfall yesterday. It was beautiful up there, lots of folks enjoying the scenery.

LeConte Lodge team thank you so much for a wonderful and exciting weekend on the mountain!!! It was tough climbing up in the rain but the trip down with the snow was breathtaking. And there cannot be enough said about how the team on top takes care of their visitors. We are already looking forward to a return trip to one of the most beautiful places on earth. Thanks again!!

Our party of 9 is hiking up tomorrow, Tuesday. Do you expect to have a lot if snow melt today? It's hard to know how to dress the kids will the highs being in the upper 70s at the bottom!

I believe my backside would fit comfortably in that rocker, snow or not ! Looks quite peaceful to me ! Sometimes it hard to envision the snow that remains up there when it is so clear, bright, and sunny here in central KY. Of course it's the elevation differential. I was curious if the lodge has been at capacity so far; of course it was fully booked, but I was wondering if anyone has cancelled. Beautiful no matter what the conditions are up there.

Thanks for a wonderful Sunday and Monday from the VTA from Birmingham. Came up Rainbow Falls and Bullhead in the cold but bright and shiny snow. Walked down Alum and Rainbow in the warm sun. I was surprised how much snow was left. Breakfast was spectacular as usual. You guys are great! We love coming every year and will miss you.

Anybody come down Alum Cave this afternoon? Thinking about making the trip tomorrow and my crampons (ice walkers) are MIA. Was wondering if the ice was still bad this afternoon? Anybody know where to get some in Gatlinburg area (not expensive one's either)

We hiked up and down today. It was pretty icy all the way up, and 2/3 of the way back down. Then you hit rivers of water and slushy snow soup from the melt during the day.
