10.28.16 What should I be...?

10/28/2016

Yesterday was cloudy with a short drizzle, ended up being 61/43 but today we are all sunshine and clear skies.

What should this pumpkin be?
We are seeing a lot of "presents" left by bears, and some even checking out our windows! Make sure to put your food up if you are staying anywhere in the park, the bears are ravenous.

Our crew is planning on dressing up for Halloween along with carving pumpkins, are you hiking up in costume?

Enjoy this gorgeous weekend guys!

I could write volumes about my trip to the Lodge these past three days but I'll do that on my own web site later today. But I wanted, as soon as possible (10-29; morning) to express a few important feelings that I came away from the Lodge with as I began my descent Friday morning. As usual the dinner hour was my favorite time where I met several pleasant guests and managed to meet nearly all of the present crew. My appreciation for what those people do has deepened significantly as all day Thursday I simply was lazy and walked around the fog shrouded Lodge grounds, napping frequently ! I observed some of the crew as they went about doing their housekeeping chores and it made me realize completely that they don't just serve meals and sit around the rest of their days, they perform far more duties than that. They truly work hard up there. I thank them profusely and when I return I want to try to bring them a few treats myself which they so deserve. Merci beaucoup crew !!

Just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU for sending me a postcard from the Lodge! It was huge surprise to see in the mailbox this afternoon! A few weeks ago my husband and I made our first hike up(which has been a dream of mine for 5 years) and I fell even more in love with it! Can't wait to come back and maybe even stay overnight! Thank you again!! Happy Halloween!

I won't need a costume. I took a hard fall on a training hike near Raven Point just off the Fiery Gizzard/Dog Hole Trail in Tracy City, TN, and I have enough cuts on my face to rival anything in a Haunted House! Thankfully just some cuts and bruises. I was carrying my 13 month old son in our hiking pack, and he shifted suddenly. He was just fine and was laughing because daddy was sitting on the trail for so long!
