And just like that, it’s already July! We’ve officially reached the 100 day mark of the 2026 season, which is now 40% complete in the blink of an eye. My, how time flies! But this summer is still oh so young, and boy is it off to a hot start. The Heat Advisory for our area has been extended through Friday evening now. Triple digit heat indexes for the lowest elevations and high temps in the 70s at the Lodge are still expected leading up to the holiday weekend. Skies over the mountains are going to be a mix of sun and clouds today, with only a slim chance for storm development around supper time. As delightful as that may sound, everyone needs to take these forecasts seriously. Heat related health issues are no joke and can surprise anyone who enters these woods unprepared. Early starts, ample hydration, calorie-packed snacks, frequent breaks, sun protection…we just can’t stress these points enough.
Our reservations office will be closed on Friday in observance of the coming national holiday. So anyone in need of assistance with regard to an upcoming reservation this weekend, or inquisitive travelers looking to utilize our shuttle service, best contact our office today or tomorrow. Normal business hours would resume next Monday. All signs point to the Smokies being a busy place this weekend, so if the thought of personally contending with vehicular traffic sounds unappealing, consider booking one of our shuttles. Let our friendly and informative hosts get you safely from point A to point B while you simply go along for the ride.
