Nice Commute to Work

10/10/2012

Picture
What a great day for a commute to work. Chris and I took our time hiking up Alum Cave soaking in the color as we ascended. The colors in the lower elevations are at their prime. The leaves turned the trail into what looked like a yellow brick road. We made it to the top to find Sevier county covered in clouds. We had an amazing inversion going on. The high yesterday was 56 with a low of 36. I was surprised to hear that no one had won our snow pool yet. The temperatures on the mountain seemed to be warmer then they were in Gatlinburg. Just goes to show how tricky the weather is on the top.

I could get real used to that commute to work!! Beautiful. Maybe next year I can enjoy the brillance of the fall colors. I can't now as I am still teaching!! So thanks for the pictures!!

Wish I could see the mountains in the fall. The crowds keep us away at that time of the year:(
We are having some of the best color we have had in years in Ohio. It's been absolutely GORGEOUS!

I also agree with Pearl. I'm from central Ohio and traveled within 2 hrs of home and the leaves are gorgeous! I even hiked a small woods west of Findlay Sunday and so pretty but not as pretty as the Smokies!

In Sevier county now but am from eastern Ohio. Someone posted a picture on facebook yesterday from the Tapan Lake area. I don't think i ever saw colors in Ohio that pretty. Almost makes me want to move back - NOT!

Wish I lived there. If it wouldn't be for family I would move! Tappan is not to far from where I live.

If you don't get snow before Nov. 9th, I will try to bring it with me from Alabama! LOL I can't wait, only 30 days until we come up.

Your enthusiasm in returning to the lodge and how you enjoy the journey up the mountain depicts the essence that the lodge is all about. This has to be the best time of year to hike up that trail, any trail for that matter in my opinion. Like many others I certainly appreciate your comments, photos, and how each crew member gives their best. Every posting. from every person there, is always welcome. What a great job ! Welcome back.

Ahhh, I need a trip down to see those beautiful colors before they all fall off. Hmmm, my son has next Thursday half a day and next Friday off. Hmmmm, got me thinking now.
The colors are also beautiful in Ludington, Michigan. In fact the whole west side of the state is blasting with color. From Traverse City,(inlaws were just there) to Muskegon.I was just there yesterday, a hour south. Get out and enjoy all while we can. Welcome back Allyson. I see you gave me some pretty pictures for my wall paper today. Thank you!!

Make sure you hike past Myrtle Point on the Boulevard trail and check out the slide area. It was something to see and a great view.

Just a few. Was busy breathing hard and watching my step. I'm going to try to take more on our hike to Mt. Cammerer this Friday.
