Good morning,

After 12 days of no rain we finally got some raindrops early this morning. 0.8 inches to be exact. We were in desperate need of some rain here at the summit so those wildflowers can bloom. Forecast is calling for another chance of rain this afternoon. Those planning a hike up be sure to pack that rain gear. Temperatures are starting to cool off for us with today’s high only expected to reach the mid 60s. Staying fairly warm at night with lows staying around 50 degrees. Today we are in and out of the clouds due to a heavy breeze pushing them about.

Good afternoon all,

Another sunny day here at the summit. Clear skies revealed an amazing sunrise this morning that filled the dining hall with bright pink light. Certainly a perfect view to wake up to. It is currently 65 degrees outside and no rain on the forecast. We are only seeing overnight lows in the low 50s. So take a break from the summer heat below and join us for some wonderful weather on the mountain.

Good Afternoon All,

Memorial Day was a busy one up top as we busily sold t-shirts and sack lunches from 12:00PM to 5:00PM. The steady day brought a lot of happy hikers to the top for the beautiful view. At 64 degrees here, we’re sure it was a nice break for those coming from 90 degree weather. While our overnight low was a cool 52 degrees, we’re right back up to the mid 60s as crew try to stay cool in the shade. You may see a couple of hammocks hanging around camp as they enjoy the nice day.

Good Morning,

Today, Mt. LeConte joins the rest of America in observance of Memorial Day, and we honor those who gave their lives in service of our country.  We remember the fallen men and women in uniform, who so proudly and bravely wore our nation's colors.  Thank you to those who we have lost for standing up for so much in the name of freedom.

The weather this weekend has been just about perfect and it continues today. It is looking like another clear sunny day at 6593 feet. No chance of rain on the forecast. With all this sunshine we have been getting we are starting to see some fast growth from the vegetation around camp. Wont be too much longer for those wild flowers to start popping up. It is currently 63 degrees and the high is expected to be around 70 degrees. Last night we only dropped to 52 degrees.

Good Morning,

A typical morning here at the lodge with heavy cloud cover but that will certainly clear up as the sun starts to warm up. Currently 60 degrees outside with an expected high to be around 70 degrees again. Last nights low only dropped to 52 degrees. No rain on the forecast and we are certainly loving that. Trail conditions are continuing to be hot and sunny so be sure to pack that water.

The crew is sending out an S.O.S. They are in full crisis mode as it seems our "crew candy" bucket is empty! Please help these poor folks out with their struggles by donating any candy, small and large. The crew sends out a huge Thank You in advance. Happy Hiking.

Good Morning All,

Camp is filling up fast this morning as we are greeting early risers to the summit. The going word of the trail conditions is HOT. The valley below is expecting temperatures in the low 90s and we are looking to see temps in the low 70s today. Be sure to hike with plenty of water. We have a few lingering clouds but for the most part we have some great views today. Last nights low only dropped to 51 degrees. Still no rain on the forecast. As promised the kitchen is pumping out all kinds of goods for those needing a little boost. Our office is fully stocked with a variety of LeConte Lodge gear with lots of options. So escape that high heat below and come enjoy this wonderful summer weather with us at 6593 feet. Happy Hiking!

Good Morning All,

The crew is in full swing this morning getting the lodge ready for a beautiful holiday weekend. Our office is fully stocked with a wide variety of apparel, gift ideas and souvenirs. So many options! The kitchen is pumping out extra fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and no bakes. Hot coffee and hot chocolate will be flowing all day long. Not to forget about those awesome sack lunches that will be prepared and ready for enjoyment each day. So escape those high temperatures that are expected in the valley below and come relax with us on the mountain at a cool 70 degrees.

Yesterdays high climbed to 68 degrees and only dropped to an overnight low of 50 degrees. No rain on the forecast for the near future though we are heavy in the clouds this morning. Hoping once it warms up more as the day goes on we will see these clouds lift. Expect hot conditions on the trails leading to the lodge and be sure to pack plenty of water.

Good Afternoon,

Summer time temps are coming on strong in the valley, but up here on the mountain it's seasonally sensational! Yesterday's high temp was 68 degrees, with an overnight low of 45. It's currently 61 under mostly clear skies.

The holiday weekend looks to be a sun-filled scorcher. A great opportunity to be out exploring the wilderness, but if a visit to Mt. LeConte is in your plans, please take the necessary steps to prepare for an enjoyable time on the mountain in such hot and humid conditions.

Eat and hydrate adequately in the days leading up to your trip. You are going to expend a great deal of energy ascending the mountain, and in these forecasted temps, that means a lot of sweating too. Be sure to carry and consume plenty of water/electrolytes. Starting your hike earlier in the morning will give you more time on the trail to take breaks and get out in front of the rising temperatures.

It's also worth considering which trail you hope to take to and from the lodge. Trails like Bull Head, Alum Cave, and The Boulevard receive a fair amount of southern exposure and/or direct sun, heating up quickly as the day progresses. Rainbow Falls and Trillium Gap sit on the mountain's northern side and are predominantly forested, keeping them slightly cooler than their counterparts. If you haven't done Bull Head Trail since it's reopened from the 2016 fires, understand that several miles of trail are now canopy-less, meaning no protection from a relentless summer sun.

Have a great rest of the day!

Good Afternoon,

Its been a rather warm 24 hours at 6593 feet. With a high yesterday of 67 and overnight low of 45, we are experiencing much of the same today. As the scattered clouds roll through camp, we are currently sitting at a warm 64 degrees. While scattered thunderstorms are predicted late this afternoon, Chuck and his llama friends are enjoying the sunshine. Don't forget, they will be up tomorrow Thursday, May 23rd and will not be up on Friday, May 24th. Happy Hiking!

Good Morning All,

Yet another beautiful day on LeConte is behind us. With a high of 65 degrees and low of 40 degrees we are enjoying the t-shirt and shorts weather. Today, we're expecting much of the same as we are already at 61 degrees and are predicted to reach the high 60s in the early afternoon. The crew are all running around camp soaking in the suns rays and some crew even made it out to sunrise early this morning to catch this glimpse of the beautiful sunrise.
