High 47, Low 30.
This warm weathers melting everything! Though, it was nice being able to lay around myrtle point and soak up some sun in a short sleeve shirt, the last week of january is supposed to be the coldest of the year. Didn't rain any last night, it's looking like it wants to start any moment though. Thanks to the griztrax crew who made it up a few days ago and dropped off the Cormac McCarthy Book I mentioned earlier this month, Thank You!! High 41, Low 12.
First of all, A big thanks to everyone who brought fresh food goods this weekend, you've made my next month stretch up here much more comfortable! A lot of people walking around up here yesterday, it turned out to be such a nice sunny day, got those solar panel batteries charged back up. On friday night the Pop Hollandsworth crew made it up for their 41st Memorial hike for Dr. Charles Lindsley, who fell and died on Alum Cave Trail January 1971. This is the crew from this year, good times and the most people i've seen in the kitchen all winter. The second is from bullhead which is packed down very well right now, and then sunset last night. High 20, Low 11.
Oh man, a Leconte reality TV show.. it's really not that interesting up here, haha. Y'all are crazy. There's 22" of snow on the ground, and much higher in drift areas, we had some really windy days. I'm ready for some more snow! maybe later on this weekend. The boulevard hasn't been travelled since november. As of the new snow, Rainbow, and Bullhead are both broken. Alum, Trillium and Boulevard have not. Today is the final day of my fast, i'll be hiking around a little today to get some better pictures. High 30, Low 14. It's flurrying outside, but not enough to be anything more than pretty. Snow/Rain in the forecast today. I'm pretty sure these are some grey fox tracks. He's been running around all over camp when i'm not looking.
bonjour, le ciel est clair et le monde est vaste.
High 24, Low 0. 1" of new snow. Good to be back home, I am stocked on good teas and some awesome veggies and fruits, thanks to Sherry, Dick & Co. that relieved me this weekend. -The counter at the bottom of the main page is supposed to count the unique computers that have accessed the website since I put the counter on. Who knows how well that thing really works, but still, it's crazy how many of y'all there are. Bullhead trail is broken from bottom to top now. so trillium and boulevard are the only trails not broken now. We hiked some from the bottom of boulevard, so that's where the first pictures from, the second from coming up alum yesterday afternoon, The third are the kahtoola microspikes Word from the mountain is the high was 14 with a low of 1. It is currently cloudy up top. Total snow is 16". No new snowfall. If you hiking up today, be careful and take your time. Have fun!!!
Hi everyone, it is Allyson again. Alex has hiked down for a quick trip into town. You may wonder who watches the place while he is gone. We have a few experienced people who help the caretaker out when he needs a day off here and there. Tim Webb is one of these "relief" caretakers. He was up there last weekend and had this photo taken in front of one of the cabins. I thought it was a great example of the amount of snow that is on the mountain. Last I heard, it was around 9 degrees this morning. I am not sure of the amount of new snow that accumulated. It is sunny in town, but there seems to be a big cloud hanging over the mountain. That could mean they are still getting snowed on. I will try and keep you posted.
High 32, Low 27. Man, What a beautiful day yesterday ended up being. Sorry Larry, the camera i'm using doesn't have that capability. snow tonight? Here comes a big picture post since i'll be gone most this weekend, enjoy. |
