 Cloud ocean this morning. Hello again. Today is still making up its mind about what kind of weather we are having...we woke up in an inversion and now the clouds have rolled in overhead as well. But it is a very comfortable 58 degrees outside. Yesterday's high was 63 and the low overnight was 47. We received 1.73" of steady rainfall all throughout the day and into the early evening. Y'all have a great afternoon!
 Good afternoon! Another foggy day up on the mountain top. Yesterday we received .05" of rain. The high was 63 and the low overnight was 46. Right now it is cloudy and misty and the temperature has settled in around 60 degrees. Happy hiking!
 I love how this view changes with the seasons. Good morning! We are in the midst of a third cloudy day in a row. Yesterday started out clear, but quickly became overcast and the temperature never rose above 60 degrees. Overnight, the low fell to 48 and even though it felt dreary all day, we received no rain. Currently their is a soft mist just floating in the the air and it is 60 degrees.
 One more of the mountain from down below. Good morning, loyal blog readers! Writing from another chilly mountain morning. Yesterday's high was only 62 and the overnight low fell to 33, still no rainfall. Today has been another stunning fall morning, blue skies and a temperature of 53 at the moment...the crew has definitely broken out their jackets for camp!  Walt, the set-up master.  Friends over for lunch yesterday. Hello and good morning from another foggy, chilly day! Yesterday's high only reached 60 and the low overnight was 52 and we finally received .35"of rain yesterday! It looks like we are in for more today as well. It is certainly cool, only 54 degrees, and there is a thick layer of clouds that has settled into camp...this is optimal tea and knitting weather on the mountain!
 Sun streaks on a perfect sky. Good morning! Well, it is another cool and cloudy day on the mountain. Yesterday's high was 67 and the low was once again 48. Still no rain. Right now it is chilly with out the sun to warm us, only 56. There is rain in the forecast for today and tomorrow, so pack for wet weather hiking! Have a safe day, everyone!
 A very good sunset indeed. Well, last night ended our three-day rainbow streak, but we had a magnificent sunset in its place. Yesterday's high was 61 and the low overnight was 48. Right now it is sunny but chilly, only 55, but there are clouds moving in and it is hard to say for sure what the weather will do today. I hope everyone had a lovely holiday weekend!   I believe in good omens. This one is triply good. Unbelievable! Three evenings in row we have been given beautiful, full, double rainbows. That has got to mean something amazing! Yesterday's high was 67 and the low over night was 48, again afternoon showers produced rain that was not enough to measure, but perfect for refracting light right around dinner time. Right now it is cool, only 54, and cloudy. Alum is open for the Labor Day holiday and we are already very busy! Everyone have a wonderful holiday!  That sky, though...  A double rainbow two nights in a row!  Good morning from another lovely day on the mountain! Yesterday's high was 67 and the overnight low fell to 48. We didn't receive any rain beyond a few immeasurable sprinkles yesterday, but thunder growled all afternoon and there was some lovely lightning. Last evening produced another spectacular presentation of refracted light. Currently it is partly cloudy and a little cooler than yesterday morning, only 55 at the moment, but the mountain is already busy. Happy hiking!   Pre-dinner rainbow after a crew member's laundry got an impromptu "second-rinse cycle". Happy Saturday! Talk about perfect weekend weather...yesterday's high was a warm and sunny 71 and the overnight low was 49. We finally got a little rainfall before dinner when a lovely afternoon shower dropped .3" and then cleared up for a rainbow! Today has been beautiful so far, clear skies that are just starting to take on that deeper autumn blue. While it is still warm, currently 61 degrees, I am willing those lovely cool fall days to get here faster (Jedi weather mind powers, you know). Come up and enjoy this beautiful weather!  |
