Good morning from another lovely day on the mountain! Yesterday's high was 67 and the overnight low fell to 48. We didn't receive any rain beyond a few immeasurable sprinkles yesterday, but thunder growled all afternoon and there was some lovely lightning. Last evening produced another spectacular presentation of refracted light. Currently it is partly cloudy and a little cooler than yesterday morning, only 55 at the moment, but the mountain is already busy. Happy hiking!

My goodness look at that rainbow in the lower picture. How spectacular. The full 180 degree arc. I've never seen that - in person or in a picture. WOW!!

Wow. I'm at a loss for words for the rainbow pictures. Simply gorgeous, especially to capture the full arc!

We were on the porch when you took the picture of the double rainbow! I just want to thank you and the entire crew at LeConte Lodge for being so accommodating. We were an hour late for dinner and still received above board service. It was the perfect tonic after a strenuous hike with two small children. I'm looking forward to the next time we are able to stay on top of your beautiful mountain!

tomk in SC - We took the Alum Cave trail up and back. We got a very late start (2pm) and it took us about 5 hrs. We have 2 girls (6 and 8). We were pretty concerned about their stamina, but they did great and had loads of fun. Would definitely take them again.
