Good morning all,

its another clear and sunny morning for us at the summit. Spectacular views all the way to the valley floor below. With this much direct sunlight we are warming up fast. Last nights low came in at 48 degrees but it’s now 64 degrees and rising. It’s a perfect day for our llama friends to make a trip up and they should be here around noon. Forecast are continuing the call for those mid to late afternoon showers.

Good morning all,

The past 24 hours have been beautiful with a high of 60
and a light breeze causing many to need a light jacket. Overnight we got down to 44 degrees but should be warming up again as soon as the sun comes out. This afternoon, we had a chance for some scattered showers but that system has moved on according to our radar. We hope you get a chance to spend your day in the Smokey’s and enjoy the last of your weekend!

Good morning all,

While at 56 degrees currently, we are expecting a warm up today. Much like yesterday, we should be seeing the high 50s to low 60s. Overnight, a chilly 47 degrees kept us cool throughout the night. Keeping with the trend, we should continue to see our overnight temps in the 40s and daytime temps in the 50s to low 60s for the rest of the weekend. Get ready to bring those rain jackets out.. while currently sitting in the warm sunshine, later this weekend we are predicted to receive rain Sunday throughout the day. For now, we hope you enjoy this nice sunny day!

Good morning,

It’s been a beautiful 24 hours in camp with the sun shining and wildlife running around. A light breeze kept us cool at 55 degrees yesterday. While expecting the same thing today, currently we are at 37 degrees. A COLD morning to say the least but so refreshing from the heat in the valley. At 6593’ we are nice and dry but we’ve still had reports wet trail conditions. Be cautious out there and if you plan to spend the night, bring warm clothes!

Good morning,

As hoped, we finally have some sunshine on the mountain! Crew and guests alike are happy to have a break from the rain for the rest of the week and are enjoying the sunshine. We received quite the cool down with the most recent system that passed through hitting a low of 40.1 degrees last night. Chilly to say the least. Our high of 55 yesterday and another accumulated 1.1 inches of rain are in the past as we expect a little warm up today getting into the high 50s. If you are summiting today, remember that Rainbow Falls Trail is still going to have some higher creek crossings as the rain continues to drain from the mountain. Use caution as conditions on it and other trails will still have some slick spots hopefully drying up within the next day. Enjoy this sunny day outside!

Good morning all,

The rain is still falling on us steadily and after 3.5 inches of rainfall yesterday, we are ready to see the light at the end of the tunnel! This afternoon and the majority of the rest of the week should be nice and clear for us though. With a high in the low 60s and low in the mid 50s, we’re staying pretty chilly at 6593’. If you plan on summiting today, we recommend warm waterproof layers. Additionally, with this amount of rainfall in a short period of time, Rainbow Falls Trail has flooded causing the trail to become treacherous at creek crossings. Please consider using the other three trails, Bull Head, Boulevard and Alum Cave to reach us!

Good Morning,

Its another foggy day here at 6593 feet. We are staying dry this morning but forecast are calling for the rain to start sometime mid afternoon and carry over into tomorrow. Be sure to pack that rain gear. Things are not warming up very much today, currently 60 degrees. Looking ahead our temperatures appear to be staying in the upper 50s and low 60s so be sure to bring an extra layer especially if you are staying with us. Last night we dropped to 51 degrees. Expect trail conditions to be wet, particularly Rainbow Falls Trail and at creek crossings.

Good Morning,

Cloud cover today is on a rollercoaster ride. One minute its super sunny outside and warm then the next its cloudy with visibility only a few feet. Mountain weather certainly has a mind of its own. Forecast are calling for mid afternoon showers, be sure to pack that rain gear. Temperatures are staying mildly cool, currently 62 degrees. Looking to warm up just a bit before this rain hits us then it will certainly drop back to the lower 60s. Overnight lows staying in the lower 50s. Be sure to bring an extra layer if you are staying the night with us. The crew is quickly finishing their morning routines so they can have time to work on their Christmas sweaters. Thats right, we are having our annual Christmas in July party for the crew tomorrow evening and they are getting excited.

Good Morning All,

Its that time of year when the wildflowers of Mount LeConte are in full bloom. With a mix of purple monks hood and yellow turks cap lily it is certainly a colorful time to visit the lodge. A friendly reminder that many people want to make the journey to see this wonderful flowers so please refrain from picking them. Take with you only pictures. Its another rain free morning but with many rain clouds lingering in the distance we can expect showers later in the afternoon. Yesterday we received 1.6 inches of rain. We did see some high temps yesterday, high coming in at 71 degrees. It is currently 63 degrees and rising. Looking to be another warm day so be sure to pack plenty of water. Last nights low only dropped to 54 degrees.

Good Afternoon,

If you find yourself at the summit of Mount LeConte at sunset time be sure to visit Cliff Tops for some great colors. Clear evenings always reveal a spectacle of color, a sky mixed with deep reds and vibrant oranges. Count yourself lucky if you ever get to experience such a sight in person. Currently we have a partly cloudy sky with chances of some showers coming our way later this evening. Temperatures are on the rise today, currently 67 degrees and climbing. Last night we only dropped to 51 degrees. Looking into the weekend we can expect dry conditions during the morning hours but look to get rain in the afternoons. Be sure to pack that rain gear.
Trillium Gap Trail is continuing to receive maintenance work but is now open Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and federal holidays. The trail is still closed Monday through Thursday.
