Good Evening,

We have spent most of the day with the sun hiding behind dense fog. It would seem that we are stuck in the ‘calm before the storm’ kinda weather. All appears to stand still and quiet on the mountain today. The lack of sunshine brings cooler temperatures as we only reached a high of 65 degrees compared to yesterdays warm 70 degrees. No rainfall today but expecting that to chance tonight. As we wrap up the month of June and head into July we hope to see more sunny days and warmer temperatures.

Good Afternoon,

We have a rain free day! I woke this morning to another beautiful sunrise and the day is only getting nicer. With a slight breeze in the air we are sitting at a comfortable 65 degrees right now. Not only are crew and guests happy to be up here for this perfect weather, so are the llamas. After the hike up, the lamas like relaxing, taking in the views and receiving tasty treats. Last night was more on the rainy side with 1.15 inches of rainfall. With the combination of rain and temperatures dropping to 51 degrees, last night was best spent by the warmth of the heaters. Thats right, heaters in June. As we approach the weekend we would like to remind everyone that Rainbow Falls trail is open till Sunday.

Good Morning All,

It doesn't get any better than last nights sunset. Clear skies all the way to the valley floor and vibrant colors stretching across the whole sky. Conditions last night were great but short lasting. This morning we were engulfed with heavy thunderstorms and lighting striking all around. After getting 1.6 inches of rain and dense fog we are back to amazing views but the forecast is calling for more storms later this evening. For those hiking up today expect trillium to have high water levels especially at creek crossings. Temperatures had a big range for us yesterday with a high of 69 degrees and a low of 50 degrees.

Good Morning All,

The thing about bad weather is that it never last forever. As I made breakfast this morning I watched the sun slowly eluminate a beautiful view of a sea of clouds hovering over the valley below. What a magnificent sunrise it was. The crew and guests are finding it hard to sleep in this morning as everyone has gathered to soak in the views. After a night of high winds and heavy rain it is a nice relief to see clear skies and hear the sound of the morning birds singing away.
Our overnight temperatures are getting warmer for us as we only dropped to 54 degrees last night. The highs for the day continue to stay in the mid 60s. Overall last night we received 0.50 inches of rain but the sunny more is making quick work of drying things out for us.

Good Evening,

We are currently in the midst of a little stormy weather. Excepted to have thunder storms scattered through out the night with high winds. The constant sound of rain pounding at the cabins will make for some easy sleep for guests and crew. If you are hiking up tomorrow be prepared for rainy conditions and expect the trails, especially Trillium, to have a little bit a water. Last nights temperatures only dropped to 54 degrees and despite heavy cloud coverage we reached a high of 68 degrees today. No matter the weather conditions, always plan a hike with safety in mind but be extra careful with expected storms.

Good Afternoon All,

Here to say hi from the llama train is Hershey. He was just so happy to be at the lodge on Sunday that he couldn’t stop smiling all day. When treats for the afternoon started making there way around he just could not contain his excitement. If you get a chance to see the llamas in action here at LeConte, be sure to say hello to Hershey.

We only dropped to 51 degrees last night, a pretty warm night for us. We did receive a bit of rain yesterday, 0.55 inches. Its not too hot here, compared to the valley below. The high for yesterday was a nice 64 degrees.

Good afternoon!

We are currently sitting in thick clouds as we move through this Sunday. With temps currently at 56 degrees, storms and light winds, it is strongly advised you bring a rain jacket with you today! Yesterday, with a nice, sunny day, our high was 62 degrees and overnight low was 51 degrees. Adding in a few HEAVY showers overnight (.15 inches) made things very wet this morning. We have been in constant cloud cover and are expecting more rain into the evening. Friendly reminder as we get ready to start a new week, Rainbow Falls trail is closed for construction Monday through Thursday for the next couple of months.

This years sponsor… Kerosene Lamps! As you’ve seen on our shirts, the logo on the front has changed to a lamp. We at the lodge use these lamps all the time. Day hikers and overnight guests alike have used these lamps for games and reading in the office as well as for eating food in the dining room. These lamps give LeConte Lodge its unique glow that is unforgettable.

Good Afternoon,

The weather today has everyone out on the porches watching the gentle breeze push the clouds around. With no rain and a blue sky filled with sunshine I'd say that today is a perfect day for that. After several days in the rain the crew is enjoying the much deserved sunny day.
Temperatures are staying in the upper 50s today with no rain to come until late into the night. We received 0.15 inches of rain yesterday and only saw temperatures as low as 52 degrees.
The Llama's will be coming up this week on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday as long as weather permits. If you encounter the Llama's on the trail please let them pass as they are working and always listen to the wranglers instructions.

Good Afternoon!

It’s a chilly and cloudy day up here on top. With temps currently at 55 degrees, we are loving the temp change! Yesterday, there was no new rain and our high for the day was a very warm 67 degrees. Overnight, our low was 52, rather chilly for this time of year! If you do choose to come up today, remember that rain gear as we are expecting another full afternoon/evening of rain and thunderstorms. We hope to see you at the top grabbing a warm beverage and sitting by our heaters!

Here's a picture of items a guest brought up recently. And we are loving these treats! Thank you to them for supplying us with items we don't receive all the time. While it is NOT a requirement, if you would like to bring treats up for the crew, we are always accepting candy, sodas and fresh fruit. Thank you for all you do for us!

Good Morning All,

While cooking breakfast this morning I saw my first glimpse of color on the mountain and what will soon be surrounding all of camp. I was reminded of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson "The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn". More often than not I find myself looking at the big picture of the mountains, trying to see all of it in one glance rather than looking at the little details. For it is in those tiny leaves, unnoticed flowers, small rocks and growing trees that all together make a giant mountain. So no matter the weather conditions that might hinder the views, taking a closer look at what actually makes up the mountain can surprisingly make you feel more apart of it.
We are expecting scattered showers throughout the day and collected 1.0 inches of rain yesterday. With a low of 54 degrees last night we are looking to reach the upper 60s today. Plan for hot conditions on the trails today, bring plenty of water and expect a few rain showers.
