Good Morning All, While cooking breakfast this morning I saw my first glimpse of color on the mountain and what will soon be surrounding all of camp. I was reminded of the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson "The creation of a thousand forests is in one acorn". More often than not I find myself looking at the big picture of the mountains, trying to see all of it in one glance rather than looking at the little details. For it is in those tiny leaves, unnoticed flowers, small rocks and growing trees that all together make a giant mountain. So no matter the weather conditions that might hinder the views, taking a closer look at what actually makes up the mountain can surprisingly make you feel more apart of it. We are expecting scattered showers throughout the day and collected 1.0 inches of rain yesterday. With a low of 54 degrees last night we are looking to reach the upper 60s today. Plan for hot conditions on the trails today, bring plenty of water and expect a few rain showers. -Adventure is out there.

You can do it, My husband and I are in our 60’s and we did it. It’s not a walk in the park, But just take your time. Start early in the morning. It’s too beautiful of a hike to miss. Take Alum Cave trail for spectacular views.
