Good afternoon all,
Camp is filling up fast today with folks looking to take advantage of this clear weather on a holiday weekend. No chance of rain on our forecast for today. Temperatures are staying in the comfortable range of mid 60s. A slight breeze rolling over the summit it’s keeping us nice and cool. Views today are quite spectacular as we can see all the way to the valley floor below. We are stocked up on this years “I hiked it” shirts in the office with many colors to choice and the kitchen is pumping out fresh hot coffee and cookies so lace up those hiking boots and come join us at 6593 feet for a perfect weekend.

Good morning,
It’s been a rather chilly 24 hours up top. In the clouds with a light breeze, 60 degrees feels more like 50. We reached that 58 degree mark yesterday for just a little while then began dropping again around sunset reaching our low of 46 degrees in the early morning hours. We also received .45 inches of rain but shouldn’t be expecting any more today! If you are planning a hike up today, you’ll be starting in shorts and a T-shirt but once you get to elevation it’ll get a little chilly! Bring a warm jacket or purchase your 2019 “I Hiked It” hoodie when you get to the top. Good afternoon,
after receiving 0.5 inches of rain yesterday we are looking forward to a rain free day. The morning hours were spent still in the clouds has it has been for the past few days. But as the sun gets higher in the sky we are starting to see those clouds burn off. Forecast are calling for clear skies starting mid afternoon and continuing into the weekend. Fingers crossed that stays accurate. It’s a little warmer today than it has been lately. It is currently 59 degrees out with highs expected to be in the mid 60s. Last night we only dropped to 52 degrees. Good morning,
Another rain filled night brought us 0.5 inches of rain. Today’s forecast is calling for similar conditions to yesterday. Heavy cloud cover with scattered showers all day. Looking a head on the forecast it looks like the end of the week and into the weekend will be dry and sunny. Last night we dropped to a low of 49 degrees. It is currently 53 degrees outside. Expect trail conditions to be wet with higher water levels at creek crossings, especially rainbow falls trail. Be sure to pack that rain gear and some warm dry layers. Good Morning Folks,
Today is going to be a day spent in the clouds. Not much in the way of vast views into the distance but a perfect day to look closely and observe things like wildflowers slowly fading into winter, little salamanders playing in muddy water or a family of deer wondering through camp. The mountain is full of amazing things besides views off in the distance. Forecast are calling for this heavy cloud cover to continue all day. Small scattered rain showers are continuing all afternoon as well. Last night we received 0.6 inches of rain. With no sunshine making its way past these dense clouds we are staying fairly chilly. Currently 53 degrees outside. Last nights low came in at 49 degrees. If you are planning a hike up be sure to pack that rain gear and bring a few extra warm/dry layers. Good morning all,
We’ve been back and forth within the last 24 hours between rain and sun. Luckily, the llamas were rained on once in the morning but it didn’t follow them after that! It stopped just long enough for them to take a nice long break at the top while they ate their pancakes then began again not long after they left. With a high of 68 and low of 53, we’re slowly starting to see those temps drop as we get into the later half of the season. While currently at 59 degrees and sitting in the clouds, we shouldn’t expect much of a warm up but will have rain showers again in the late afternoon. Bring that rain gear!! Good Afternoon,
A very rainy 24 hours in the books here in camp with a total of 1.54 inches. Most of which were received overnight beginning around 9:00pm. It has continued over the morning hours as we sit at 58 degrees. Much like yesterday, we’re expecting rain showers and temperatures ranging from 55-70 degrees. Rain gear is a necessity if you plan to hike today! Pictured below is a detailed photo of a bee on a cone flower captured by our very own Jacob Line. The cone flowers amongst others are already beginning to wilt. Come see the wild flowers before they all wither away. Good morning,
The rain finally hit us HARD last night beginning around 10:00 pm. Just prior to this, I was laying in bed with my windows open enjoying the light breeze and listening to the Thunder in the distance. Then all of a sudden, the rain poured on us coming in my window so much I had to close it before the puddle on my floor became too large. Needless to say the .6 inches of rain we received lulled me to sleep as it fell on the wooden roof protecting my head. While it isn’t currently raining, we are expecting the rain to continue throughout the day and should be staying around 65 degrees. Bring that rain gear and try to stay dry on the trail!! Good morning all,
Yet ANOTHER beautiful 24 hours in the books with only a couple sprinkles of rain but nothing to take note of. We’re enjoying the sunshine and 56 degree weather for now but are expecting rain in the late afternoon hours. Yesterday, our high was 68 degrees and low was 52. Today should hold much the same for us. Again, while we do have cool temps here, remember it is humid and roughly 20 degrees warmer in the valley so dress appropriately and bring plenty of water! We hope to see you at the top! Good Afternoon,
The clouds have been rolling in and out today creating a chilly environment at 6593’. We were expecting another warm up today after reaching 73 yesterday but are currently only at 66 degrees with a light breeze. Unless these clouds break, we probably won’t get much warmer than that. If you plan on hiking up in the next couple of days, be prepared again, with plenty of water as well as rain gear! After days of no rain, I believe some of our crew will be excited to play in the rain for a little while! |
