Good Morning,

It is feeling very fall this morning at 6593. The clouds rolling through the the trees and cabins brings a slight eerie feeling into camp. We are looking forward to cooler temps and color changes of fall but yesterday felt more like a mid summer day with a high of 73 degrees. Thankfully the temperatures dropped overnight with a low of 52 degrees. No rainfall yesterday but we have a slight chance of some showers this afternoon. The valley below is still getting hit with those summer heat waves so expect warmer trail conditions at lower elevations.

Good afternoon all,

Most of yesterday was spent in the clouds with scattered showers throughout but it cleared up just in time for a beautiful sunset. Cliff tops was full of visitors taking in the majestic views. Bright colors of pink and orange filled the sky while dark shadows grew over the mountains below. Today looks to be a clear one with little chance of rain. Temperatures are staying consistent with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the upper 40s. Be sure to pack some warm layers if you are planning an overnight.

Good Saturday Morning!

We hope your weekend is off to a great start! Things are rolling right along in camp this morning as we prepare breakfast, hot chocolate and coffee. There’s a crisp breeze blowing and just a touch of fall in the air today.

The last 24 hours brought us a mild 72 degrees for our high, and a low temperature of 53 degrees. We’re currently sitting at 57 degrees with partly cloudy skies.

Leave the cares and concerns of the week behind and join us on the mountain for some time in nature. We’ll have cookies and hot chocolate waiting for you when you arrive. We hope to see you soon!

Good afternoon all!

We greeted the day with a picture perfect sunrise at 6593’. Camp was perfectly quiet at first light.

The dry conditions continue with yesterday’s rain totaling only .1”.  Crew and guests alike are enjoying mild temperatures for this time of year. Our high temperature yesterday was 62, and our low bottomed out at 51.  Current conditions are partly cloudy and we are resting comfortably at a warm 70 degrees.

There’s no better way to enjoy a beautiful fall day that to join us at the top for some cookies and hot cocoa.  We hope to see you soon!

Good afternoon all,

Sunset last night was one for the books. Just enough cloud cover to give the colors something to reflect off of. To be sure that our overnight guest get the opportunity to see these wonderful sunsets we are pushing our dinner service back by 15 minutes, serving now at 5:45. This will allow time to catch the sunset that are around 7:20 these evenings. We will also be starting breakfast service at 8:15 to allow time to see sunrise. Please plan your trips accordingly. This morning has been one spent in the clouds. A little bit of rain came through camp as well but didn’t linger. Looking at the forecast we can expect rainy conditions in the late afternoon. We are still staying cool with a low last night of 50 and today’s high looking to be about 60 degrees. The valley below is still seeing some higher summer time temps. Expect trail conditions to be warmer at lower elevations.

Happy Fall!

It’s finally here and this morning showed it as we woke up to 45 degrees in camp. Most guests were bundled up in their jackets as they gathered around for a hot breakfast at 8am. With a high of 67 here and 20 degrees warmer than that in the valley, you may not think a jacket would be necessary. But at our elevation, things can get quite chilly overnight! Over the next 24 hours, we’re expecting roughly the same temperature range and the sun shining high above us. Hope you can come join us and enjoy the first day of fall!

Good Morning,

Only one more day till fall begins! We haven’t seen much of a change in camp yet however, on the trails and in surrounding areas, hints of color change have begun. We’re so excited to see the fall colors! While fall is just a day away, temperatures are still feeling like summer. Maintaining our consistent high of 64 and low of 46, we’re enjoying the mild weather but are hoping for another cool down soon. Until then, come enjoy shorts and T-shirt weather with us at 6593’.

Good morning all,

It’s been more of an overcast 24 hours here at 6593’. With a sprinkle of rain falling on us at 9:30 last night, we added a whopping .07 inches of rain to our yearly total. With a high of 61 yesterday and low of 47 overnight, we’re expecting much of the same today. The sun is out, birds are chirping and crew are running around enjoying the cooler early morning temps. We hope to see you up here too!

Good morning,

Yesterday evening we received a little bit of rain, 1.8 inches to be exact. The rains started just in time for dinner so guests were able to stay in a nice warm and dry dinning hall while they ate supper as the down pour continued. No rain expected for today though everything is still damp from yesterdays storm. Expect trail conditions to be wet with higher water levels at creek crossing, especially on rainbow falls trail. We are spending the morning with heavy cloud cover blocking out any views. Forecasts are not calling for the cloud cover to lift anytime today. The high today is looking to be in the upper 50s, currently 53 degrees outside. Last nights low dropped to 47 degrees. Those planning an overnight be sure to pack some warm layers for these chilly nights.

Good Afternoon,

No visit to the lodge is complete without a stop to Cliff Tops. The views overlooking the rest of the Smoky Mountain National Park are breathing from this point. On clear days you can easily see all the way to Clingmans Dome. It is a short 0.2 mile walk from the lodge to reach this wonderful spot. Cliff Tops is also the best location to view sunset while on top of Mount LeConte. Be sure not to miss this amazing spot if you plan a visit.
This morning has been another foggy one. Fingers crossed it clears up sooner rather then later because forecasts are calling for a slight chance of rain this evening. With not much sunshine making its way through the clouds we are staying fairly cool. Currently 61 degrees. Last nights low came in at 51 degrees.
