Good Morning! As we reach the end of July, we're having a rainy day up top. Enjoying the cool weather and wet rocks as we walk around camp. This morning as I was doing breakfast, the pitter patter of rain hitting the skylights as all the guests were asleep brought a sense of peace to biscuit making in the morning. Yesterday, we hit a high of 63 and overnight low of 54 degrees. We also received a whopping .1 inches of rain yesterday! Today, we are expected to have rain showers as temps stay in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Enjoy this rainy day up top! -Adventure is out there.

Good Evening, Another beautiful day here at the lodge. So nice outside that even the llamas didn't want to leave the cool breeze and pretty views. We are currently at 63 degrees and slowly dropping back into low 50s that is expected for the night. We have another rain free day (so far) but are surrounded by clouds. The over all low for last night reached 52 degrees. The llamas paid us a visit today. They were very happy to trade in the 90 degree weather that can be found down below for the more comfortable temperatures found here. There were a few sad looking llamas when it came time to head back down and are already looking forward to their next trip up. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good Morning, We were able to stay dry yesterday with no rain! It did not warm up too much yesterday with a high of 63 degrees and a low last night of 47 degrees. Today is a fairly windy day, pushing the clouds in and out of view. Scattered amounts of sunshine peaking past the fast moving clouds has us at cooler temperatures for another day. Currently we are at 55 degrees. Seems that today is perfect porch sitting weather as that is what crew is doing, picking out the shapes found in the clouds. As I wait for the llamas to arrive I can only think as to how happy they are going to be with the cooler temperatures at the summit. What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Happy Saturday Everyone, What a wonderful Saturday it is. We are still experiencing relief from the typical warm July heat. With a low last night of 44 degrees it certainly does not feel like the middle of summer. It may be a little chilly out but that won't stop all the wildflowers. I feel that I wake everyday to several dozen new blossoms scattered around camp. The amount of vibrant yellows and reds mixing with the more mellow blues and purples certainly gives camp that picture perfect look. The crew, enjoying this amazing weather, can't help but to dress up their porches to make for a more homey spot to sit back and relax after a days work. This morning was filled with sunshine and clear skies but as the day goes on more and more clouds roll in. The forecast calls for some scattered showers this evening but only a low chance. So guests and crew alike have fingers crossed that it stays dry today. The high for yesterday was 64 degrees and with it currently at 57 degrees we might not break the 50s today. So be sure to bring those layers accordingly. -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good morning from the mountain!
We had another spectacular day yesterday high above East Tennessee. Camp was in and out of the sun, and temps were moderate as our high reached 67 degrees. Last night’s low of 46 might be chilly for some, so be sure and bring that extra layer if you plan on enjoying sunset or sunrise. There is a slight chance of afternoon showers today, but the rest of the weekend looks stellar. Sunset last night was muted, but the midnight specactle was one to behold from the lodge. The moon was blindingly bright, making for one of those no-headlamp-required type twilights. But even more impressive was the size and proximity of planet Mars. To the south and just to the left of the moon at midnight, there was a prominently glowing red dot. Had to do a double take to make sure I was still viewing the same outer space from my earthly confines. Hopefully skies are favorable again this evening to allow for a repeat performance. Have a great start to the weekend! Good Afternoon All, Heres to You. Heres to the day hikers out there. To the overnight guest. To the adventure seekers. Heres to those that pick the path less traveled. To all the crazy backpackers out there. To those that trade paved roads for muddy trails. To those that out seek nature. Heres to those that keep pushing forward no matter the challenge. To those that say 'one more step'. To those that appreciate and respect nature. Heres to those that spread the joy of the outdoors to others. To those that plant trees and grow things. To those that crave the best views. To those that respect the mountain. To those that strap on hiking boots and head for the trails. Heres to You. You are awesome. Heres to You, from Mount LeConte Another beautiful day. Sun is out and no rain on the forecast. Temperatures are warming up as we reach the upper 60s. Yesterdays high was a chilly 62 degrees with a low of 49 degrees. With this great weather camp is in full swing with day hikers, guests, crew and wildlife all on the move.
-Adventure is out there. (35.654261, -83.436827) Good Afternoon,
Technological challenges from above 6,000 feet have made posting to the blog-osphere difficult, so today we're spreading the mountain word from down here in the hot and humid lowlands! The mountain top received 1.2" of rain yesterday. Temperatures continue to be satisfyingly refreshing for the time of year, as yesterday's high came in at 61 degrees followed by an overnight low of 49. Current conditions are partly cloudy with temps in the low 60s. The forecast the next several days and through the weekend looks promising for exploring the outdoors despite a minimal chance of showers each day. We're deep into the heart of summer and the mountain's floral beauty is in full swing. The yellow Coneflower continue to pop, intermixed with the eye-catching colors of purple Monkshood and red Bee Balm. Further down the mountain, other perennial favorites like the pink Turtlehead, Mountain Krigia, Closed Gentian, and Grass of Parnassus are taking shape. The mountain is alive and well, and the lodge is bustling with the day's newest arrivals of accomplished ascenders. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! Good Morning All, It is with a heavy heart that we say farewell to our head cook Heather. She is leaving the mountain to pursue higher education in the field of music studies. We couldn’t be happier for her and wish her all the best in her future endeavors. Thank you so much Heather for all the wonder that you brought to LeConte. The thing about the crew here at LeConte Lodge is that we are never short of amazing people. Stepping up to fill the role of head cook is Emily. Emily has been with us the entire 2018 season. She loves and knows LeConte very well. We are super excited to she all the amazing things she brings to her new role here. LeConte Head Cook Emily. Good luck with all of your adventures Heather! Things have been cooling down for us with yesterdays high only reaching 63 degrees. The lows have surprisingly been dropping into the 40s, last night we dropped to 49 degrees. Today we are surrounded by heavy cloud coverage with a slight chance of rain. Yesterday we received .19 inches of rain.
-Adventure is out there. (35.654261, -83.436827) Happy Monday! We are starting this day off right with all the windows open and the sun shining around us. After a rainy (.23 inches) and cloudy day yesterday, we are enjoying the change today. Yesterdays high was 55 while the overnight low was 48. A chilly one to say the least! Most of the guests were bundled in their warm jackets, pants and wool socks at breakfast this morning. As for this afternoon, we are supposed to warm up about 10 degrees but also anticipate some precipitation. We hope to see you at the top and have a fantastic start to your week!! -Adventure is out there.
(35.654261, -83.436827) Good morning! The mountain is socked in this morning with intermittent rain. We received a whopping .85 inches of rain yesterday with a high of 62 and overnight low of 48. We are enjoying the change though and enjoying each other inside rather than running around on our own around the mountain. With another day of rain expected rain, remember those rain layers! Our wonderful Kemp made a day run and on his back brought us 65 cans of soda (with only 2 casualties), a gallon of sweet tea and some munchies. Yes, some are missing from this photo because sodas are a hot commodity up here! Way to go Kemp! -Adventure is out there.
