Sun streaks on a perfect sky.
Good morning! Well, it is another cool and cloudy day on the mountain. Yesterday's high was 67 and the low was once again 48. Still no rain. Right now it is chilly with out the sun to warm us, only 56. There is rain in the forecast for today and tomorrow, so pack for wet weather hiking! Have a safe day, everyone!

Still hoping the Saturday forecast will improve. Perhaps if there's enough rain, I'll head up Rainbow Falls and prove, once and for all, that alleged bad stream crossing is doable -- or get washed down the mountain, one of the two. ; )

I think you could make it. Nice picture! HAGD

Kent, take some pictures if Rainbow is bad. There are signs at the bottom now, but NO pictures! Good luck!

I'll definitely snap some pictures, Tom. Perhaps if the crossing is too dangerous to attempt, I'll find myself a stout, long branch and pole vault over LeConte Creek!

Loved to read your blog. I would like to suggest you that traffic show most people read blogs on Mondays. So it should encourage blogger to write new write ups over the weekend primarily.
Great post! Interesting information and cute writing style.

Sir, whatever your name is which you so conveniently omitted, most people who read this blog seem to be rather content with its format and content, without your "topassignmentwriters" opinion, whoever that may be. Your suggestion is poor and rookie-like. So, what exactly is YOUR writing style !?

He, or she, must write for one of those cheap ultra left-wing tabloids.

Every young person on the Internet.

Calm down, Internet. This is called a "spam bot". You cannot hurt its feelings by insulting it or argue with it. It is not a real persons. Calm down.

Yeah, it's exactly the type of message my Wordpress spam filter catches all the time.

The problem that most people have these days is that "WE" are use to seeing things on FB and respond to them as such. This blog is a much friendlier place and in saying that is frenquented by much friendlier people. "WE", myself included have phase our responses in a different way than we do on FB. SPAM BOT or not, silly responses are like stupid people, just smile cause you cant reach out and slap them. Just food for thought. LOL

For anyone missing JP's writings, he wrote a nice article in the current issue of the Long Trail quarterly mag issued by the Green Mountain Club in Vermont. He discusses some aspects of Leave No Trace (LNT) wilderness practice -- something anyone who loves hiking and camping should be familiar with. There's a nice picture, too! Good job, JP.

Richard from MA-
I looked at the summer edition on the website but didn't find it. Any further advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Steve, it's the Fall 2015. It just came in the mail yesterday. Probably a time lag on the web.

Thanks to Ruthie and the entire crew for another great stay at the Lodge on 9/8. The Lodge is far better than a Holiday Inn and I always leave as a smarter person. God bless you all.

Norman, oh he will make it alright. Or Kent's going swimming! His hike up the mountain will turn into a float trip down the mountain! :) Be safe!

I want pictures of Kent pole vaulting the floods more than I want pix of the flooded areas itself!!!
