Good morning, loyal blog readers! Writing from another chilly mountain morning. Yesterday's high was only 62 and the overnight low fell to 33, still no rainfall. Today has been another stunning fall morning, blue skies and a temperature of 53 at the moment...the crew has definitely broken out their jackets for camp!

Great photo of the clouds. Unfortunately that is a site I will not be able to see in person since I had to cancel my 2015 reservations (10/27-10/29) because I will be in the middle of Chemo and radiation treatments. I hope who ever was able to pick up those nights up from the waiting list enjoys their stay and can post some photos. I have already entered my request in the 2016 lottery and expect to be on the mountain next year. Until then I will keep checking the daily blog

Good luck on your treatments. I truly pray all goes well with your treatments & you are a cancer survivor!! We also had to cancel our trip in May because my fiance found out he had lung cancer a few days before we were going to hike to the beautiful mountain top. He had 2/3 of his right lung removed & is having his last chemo treatment tomorrow. HOORAY TO CANCER SURVIVORS because chemo is an awful thing but it sure saves lives along with your faith. Hopefully next year we can all make it up to our beautiful mountain!!

Walt needs one of those water baskets on his head instead of his regular hat to complete the act!

Beautiful, beautiful pictures today! Hamp, I'm truly sorry to hear you are going through chemo/radiation and will miss your trip to Leconte. I will be in the park those days and I'm on the wait list, so I hope to be the one that picks up your cancellation. I've never been to the lodge and was planning to just day hike up. If you will join Gosmokies, I will send you a friend request, and even if I don't get a chance to stay at the lodge, I will be happy to send you pictures anyway! Here's to smooth sailing through your treatment and a complete recovery! Peace to you!

Praying for the same cool temps this Friday/Saturday when we'll be there :) I'm SO ready to breath the cool mountain air up top!!
The first photo reminds me of a scene from the movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" when the 'mother ship began rising up from Devil's Tower in Wyoming ! Great photo.

To Hamp and K Taylor....I was going to wait a while before posting this, but I was on the wait list for the days Hamp had to cancel and I was offered the night of October 27 and immediately said I would take it. I have been basically stuck in my house since the 2nd week in June struggling with another illness. It's not cancer, but it cannot be cured. That's all I will say here about it as I don't wish to be attacked for my comments being off topic for Leconte.. But, I just wanted to tell Hamp, my excitement is bitter sweet and K. Taylor, so happy to hear your fiance's treatment is almost done! And, like you said hopefully you both will have the chance next year to make it to the top of Leconte! I was going to have to day hike up in October and that was going to be hard to accomplish. But now I have an entire day to get up and an entire day to get down! To both of you......keep the faith....it brought an extrodinary wonderful friend into my life this summer when I needed them most! They know who they are. I hope you all have a peaceful and Blessed day! Comments are closed.
