Good Morning,
Patchy clouds dot the skies above the mountain this Thursday morning with splashes of color from a sweet sunrise. And that’s after a captivating rainbow and soothing sunset graced the mountain last night. The atmosphere will bring more sunny skies to the Smokies today with a slight chance of popup showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Tomorrow’s forecast looks like a repeat, then the possibility for turbulent weather looks much stronger for the weekend. Temps will only get into the lower 60s today and tomorrow combined with light winds. Hard to believe we’re down to just under 11 weeks remaining in the season. Come on up and see the flowers before they wilt and whither away from the cold! Have a great day.

Good Morning,
A rising sun and streaking clouds at various elevations are making for a tantalizing sunrise this Tuesday morning. It should be another beautiful late summer day in the Smokies. Clouds and sunshine will share the skies today as temps continue to hover between upper 50s and 60s, superb for hiking the mountain. Tomorrow will offer more of the same until Thursday when it appears we have rain and storm chances on the docket. After that front pushes through, slightly cooler temps arrive for the weekend which will certainly have everyone getting excited for autumn. Now that we’re past Labor Day, families have wrapped up their summer vacations and the kiddos are back in school. Congestion in the national park typically eases off a bit these next few weeks until the leaves start to change, save for pleasant weekends of course. Then it’s back to crowded roads and trails in October. Until then, enjoy these delightful last days of summer greens. Have a great day. Good Morning,
Happy Labor Day from the top of Tennessee! It’s going to be another sun-filled day over the mountains. The park will be bustling today with families tackling the trails, enjoying the scenic drives, and sprawling out picnics one last time before bidding farewell to the summer tourist season. Plan on longer than usual transit times as you enter and exit the park. At our elevation, it will feel glorious once again with an afternoon high temp in the upper 60s. Tuesday looks promising as well albeit with a few more clouds being forecast. Reminder that today our reservations office is closed in observance of the national holiday and will resume normal business hours tomorrow. Have a great day. Good Morning,
My, oh my, September is already here! That means summer is officially in its last leg as we head into the holiday weekend. The next several days will be stellar for spending time in the woods. Conditions at our elevation will be a mix of sun and clouds with temps ranging from 50s to 60s and only light winds. Trails will continue to dry out for decent walking tread. With it being a last hurrah of the summer tourist season, visitors to the Smokies should expect heavy traffic congestion en route and on trail. Early starts and plenty of patience will go a long way in making your time in the most visited national park that much more enjoyable and tolerable. Reminder that our reservations office will be closed on Labor Day Monday, so any guests with upcoming reservations before then should contact our office now in case any last minute adjustments are needed. Normal hours will resume after the holiday on Tuesday. We’ll see you at the top! Have a great day. |
