Good Morning, We had a high yesterday of 48 degrees; with an overnight low of 34 degrees. We received 0.3” of rain. It’s currently 35 and clear, above the clouds. -- I woke to the shimmer of stars peeking through my loft window. I dressed and promptly measured the rainfall, started the kettle, and recorded the daily weather readings. Looking out the kitchen window, I saw clear skies above and nothing but clouds below. After calling in the weather, I moved on the next part of my morning routine, seeing the birth of a day. With a steaming cup of fresh coffee and stomach full of anticipating butterflies, I disappeared into the cold grey morning light. I walked in silence, politely letting the mountain have the first word. I made it to the junction for Myrtle Point and took a deep breath. Taking a slow sip of my coffee, I gently eased into my favorite part of the morning walk. As I walked, I slowly let the butterflies loose. Cheeks getting sore from smiling, I could hardly wait to see the sun burst through the clouds below. Paralysis sunk in, just as the sun crested the clouds; I couldn’t move. My camera stared eagerly at the sunrise, ready for action. A small flock of birds danced through the smoking clouds. I came back to reality; releasing the camera’s shutter. Onward, Seth May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds.
