10.19.20. Well, hello there, sun

Finally, some sun!

We had mostly cloudy days with 62/48 being the temps, no rain yet.
Rain, when will you grace us with your presence?

So the snow thing may still be a thing but possibly not as intense as first thought.

We're keeping our eyes on the forecasts and anyone planning a visit this week should definitely check them out to make sure they pack the appropriate gear!

It is for sure going to be cold regardless!

We have llamas on Friday and Sunday, leave room for the boys on the trail!

With the glorious fall colors cascading down the mountain you should consider taking Bullhead for your next trip up!
Cool rock formations, fantastic sights, and once you start gaining elevation it turns into a fairytale forest.

Give it a try!

Bullhead remains probably my favorite trial up or down the mountain. Lots of variety, and lots of solitude. All the trails are neat, but for me, Bullhead is the standout.

Bullhead... the neglected child of the LeConte Trails. It is truly an amazing trail, but what I think turns people off of it is that there isn't anything "spectacular" about it. Alum has something unique every mile or so (Arch Rock, the Bluffs, views, etc.). Trillium and Rainbow have the waterfalls. Boulevard has views as well as time spent on the AT.
Bullhead is a long, quiet walk in the woods. The rhody tunnels are incredible, and there are switchbacks where, when you reach the bottom, you can see the hundreds of rock slabs moved there in the '30s by the CCC workers. And of course, the purpose of the Pulpit at the halfway point will always be a point of discussion.

Will the llamas be coming to the lodge this Monday Oct. 23? We hope to see them on their return to the parking area.

Forget about the weather forecast! You need to pack for every possible weather condition that this time of year can throw at you.

Hiked down Bullhead one year from overnight at the Lodge. Beautiful trail. Beautiful views. One of my favorite trails I have hiked. Try it - you'll like it.
