We have had a lot of cool and interesting folks up here, not to mention the amount of anniversaries, engagements, birthdays, and then a surprise wedding!

Us Crew have really enjoyed getting to know the guests coming up, the day hikers passing through, and all the NPS guys and ACE peeps over the season.

As we close out this week we would just like to thank everyone who ventured up here-- it's been a blast for us and hope you guys had fun.

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and who knows what the New Year will hold.

Have fun with JP!

Thanks to the entire Leconte Lodge team this year for all your fine reporting and interesting commentary. My goal next year is to spend the night at the Lodge as I waltz through my 73 year on this planet. Thanks again, have a fantastic off-season, and WELCOME BACK JP!

Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all of you. We have enjoyed our overnight trips in 2015 and 2016. We look forward to seeing all of you in May 2017 for our third overnight. Day hiked Alum to LeConte in October. Our first time to see the llamas. See you next year.

I suppose that I can add my "best wishes" to the departing crew members; I didn't get to meet every one of them but as I said before I came away from my visit to the Lodge last month with a renewed appreciation for the good job that they all do up there. They stay very busy to say the least. This is the time of year when I begin to contemplate my plans, for the Lodge, for the coming year, wondering about the rate increases, what the new t-shirts will look like (I have my own ideas for a design but I think that they have someone does that, etc.), and what the next season's crew will look like, but, I guess that I'm again rushing things a bit. Regardless, good holidays and winter to the crew members. g'day

What a treat it's been to get to know all the unusual characters Tim has assembled, yet again! Thanks for your unending work to make sure everyone's stay is tops, always accompanied by joyful dispositions:) You'll be missed but JP will be a welcome place holder until March when it all begins again. Enjoy your change of pace, wherever that may lead you and welcome back JP!

I want to add my thanks to everyone who either wrote for, posed for, or came up with ideas for this blog over the past 9 months. I'm lucky to have been able to come up for a single visit earlier this month.

Hopefully next year I'll bring up our son so he can begin his official streak of consecutive years up the mountain. May the crew's days forward be merry and bright... and may the virtual, or real, trail bring us together again in the future.

Duh!! Please forgive and disregard my previous post. I now see that, indeed, JP kept blogging Dec -Mar 2016 opening. Sorry.

Happy Thanksgiving and a warm welcome home to our JP. So good to have you back taking care of our favorite mountain. The forecast for the winter is warmer and drier than usual. The drought here has been hard on the environment and the wildlife. Maybe you could work some magic and bring much needed precip to our region. Hope the next four months will create more memories of the Smokies for you.
